Just bought JBS's octavia Vrs...

Featured Replies

Remember seeing this after it was built at a rolling road day at jbs and it went off up the road giving someone a demo run(possibly colin d) and it was constantly lighting the tires up through the gears and sounded pretty epic disappearing off into the distance :)

and swedey don't read too much into the bhp figures, people will always say its nowhere near that figure and may not be for all i know but as long as your happy thats the main thing cos its a nice car with a lot of decent kit fitted to it :)

and i've done rolling road runs at about 6 different rolling roads over the years when i was interested and had figures between 215 and 235 in the same state of tune and i always found that conveniently if i go to tuner x and inform them i'm running tuner x software the figures are pretty high but if i to tuner y and tell them i'm running tuner x software it doesnt make as much power as tuner y customers, yes rolling roads can be manipulated to read high or low and ultimately your in the hands of the operative to do his job correctly,i know there are lots of variables like make of rollers used, temp, fuel quality etc and people will always stand by there preferred tuner and tell the world that they are the best and the figures are high because there the best out there but its not always the case,i'm happy with my map and it makes more power/torque than standard just cos i can feel it in how it pulls so power figures are irrelevant really and i'm happy with how it pulls and even if another tuner states they are better and can truthfully get 10bhp more than the map i have then good on them but would i shell out again for such a small gain that in the real world will make no real difference to how the car performs then no.

  • Crazy, I had enough trouble putting down 600 - 700 bhp in my Evo 6, **** trying to do it with a fwd car lol.

I think before bhp fly about get it on a dyno that's not been urm fiddled ;-) then we can see what it's running :-)

No I ain't,but thinking of coming.

Not putting it on the track though.

Booooooo! :D

Come on get it on track, pleeeeeeeeease?

Just for the record....I am in no way trying to imply this car has software issues,or any other issues for that matter!

It's just that mapping has come a long way since this car was built and (probably) mapped....

It's just my opinion that it would be wise to take a car such as this to R-Tech (the best in the biz,and very honest!) to have some tests done, not to see how powerfull it is,but rather to see the hardware is all as it should be!

By this I meen boost leaks, smoke test, logging, fuelling, fmic suitability, exhaust isn't blowing that sort of thing!

Rest assured though,IF this car has even the smallest issue,R-Tech WILL find it and be able to resolve it PROPERLY!

I have a simple mantra for my car that goes like this...if it needs it,it gets it!

That's how committed you have to be to a BT car...

And this EPIC car certainly warrants such a commitment!

I really do wish you well with this car swedey and I can't wait to see it and you at castle Combe!

Cheers mate..

:-)

Don't worry i am all to familiar with tuners slagging each other off..kids eh..

I don't know JBS at all..never been there...so I'm not biased.

I do know that in the early days Bill had the badger wagon mapped there, before he had his rolling road..

And I also know he wouldn't take his car to a few tuners out there today..

Yep has quite a few nice bits on her,and ultimately it's how I feel with the car.

I'm not stranger to cars with over 300bhp..but this thing is very very fast.

Sure it's laggy..tubbys a huge one,but when rolling and in 3rd....wow.

This private road.........................how long is it, and where can I find one?

That's the reason why I asked you who mapped yours,as when I left the VAG scene, mapping was just getting interesting..

I will get it remapped,as I want at least twin maps..no interested in NLTS,or launch..

Would like cell to flash when/if knock is detected, and when I get an IC spray, that to spray if knock is detected too.

I mapped my Evo using logging software Evo scan, then used ecu flash to mod the ecu,and using tephra rom,I could use all these features listed above...shame the VAG scene isn't the same...

:-/

So yes looking to get it remapped again, and if nothing else, get a full clean bill of Health, making sure there are no boost leaks etc..

Sorry I'm not tracking it...but if you want to compare somewhere...give us a shout.

Ahh Tephra rom, evoscan and ecuflash, the good old days :) lol

I'd like to compare it to my fabia. :)   On Castle Combe circuit.  ;)

Not on a 'private road'?  ;)

Not on a 'private road'?   ;)

Pretty sure Combe is a private road? :D

Don't worry about the track mate...I've never driven on track...let alone castle Combe!

So I won't be that fast anyway, especially on the first session!

Your options on the mapping side are 1/1 linear throttle, left foot braking map,so the car holds boost when you touch the brakes, instead of dumping boost only to have to build boost again, wot flat shift, launch control and 5 switchable maps!

You have wmi (water/meth) at the moment?

Pretty sure Combe is a private road? :D

I meant a 'private road', not a private road   B)

Mapping has come a long way and with a new map you can prob lose a good portion of lag and with in gear boost it will help massively

And another tip build your arm muscles up to hold on tight lol

P.s if you payed less than 7500 that is a steal worth loads in parts

Mahahahaha!

I've never seen so much crap written about a car when hardly anything is known about it. If Mr Silverstone is reading this his is probably laughing his nuts off at all the so called experts knocking this car. When this car was going together JBS were not riding on the shoulders of others, copying base maps or taking advise from others as there was nothing to compare it with over here anyway. There is so much more available to the modern day tuner now but they still choose to shy away, there is a reason for that. It's not easy to get it right. :)

Yes, it's probably going to go wrong at some point ( you can put money on that ) and yes it's probably got issues, I'd like to see someone build something like this that has not. Things have advanced quite considerably since this car was build and mapped so there is going to be some improvements to be had. In short get your wallet out cos you are going to need it a lot. There is still so much more you can do to your car that will make it more drivable but you will needs some cash. PM me if you like (i'm not selling anything BTW).

Sewdey mate, enjoy the car, be proud of it. It's a one off. You will always get knockers on here and other forums talking BS, but that is all it is, rise above it. Trust me I know!

.......sits back and awaits the barrage of abuse from the usual knockers. lol!

PS  Please Note that in no way do I endorse, recommend the services, am affiliated in any way with JBS or even like the man but credit were credit due.

Must keep it looking stealth as feck me some cars are gonna get a shock lol

Once rolling there ain't many cars gonna stick with that on a private road :-)

So the trick is to get off the line first and then block :D

Lol yeah once he is rolling your fecked ha ha

That what we did last night racing hot rods 1 guy was so so much faster so block and occasionally push into wall lol

Lol yeah once he is rolling your fecked ha ha

lol it's fine, he wouldn't be in front forever, big power cars like to drink lots of go go juice so he will run out of fuel first :D

So the trick is to get off the line first and then block :D

Even better, have a private road which starts off two lanes wide, but changes to one lane wide within 50 meters............no blocking tactics required  :)

Lol he could fit an endurance tank :-) even with the extra weight he will be flying

Can just picture santapod redesign 2 into 1 lane lol

Lol he could fit an endurance tank :-) even with the extra weight he will be flying

Even with 2 full size fuel tanks, at 602bhp it will run out of fuel faster than most :D

This sounds like a monster of a car. Does it have an LSD? I can't help thinking this engine should be transplanted to an Octy 4x4 :)

Who's knocking the car then delcac?

Having read the entire thread again all I can see is sound advice!

Sounds like an absolute fecking beast.

Yes but then you'd have to uprate/redesign the whole 4x4 system to take the power.
