Fabia Elegance

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm switching from a Citigo Elegance to a Fabia Elegance soon, delivery 2nd Sept.

I have a question for those who have recently taken delivery.

Does your car come with the MDI interface already fitted?

According to the website and brochure, the MDI is an optional extra.

My dealer assures me that all current Elegances will be delivered with the MDI interface.

But I'm not so sure.

Can anyone confirm this?

regards

Adrian

I took delivery of my new Elegance 4 weeks ago. Paid for the MDI. Just checked the Skoda site and it still shows as a chargeable extra.  I would get it in writing that the MDI will be in the new car and if it's not there have them fit it.  MDI is a great add on - I successfully use an 8Gb memory stick loaded with dozens of albums. It gives me peace of mind that if I was to leave an expensive iPod in the car its sure as hell going to be broken in to by some idiot.  Hope you enjoy your car when it arrives.

Hi Stratton,

Thanks for the advice. I will be speaking to the dealer this week, so I'll ask him to check again and get it in writing.

MDI certainly sounds very useful, I would use it like you, with a memory stick.

I certainly will enjoy the new car, can't wait!

Adrian

Our Monte has it as standard but the previous Elegance diid not and I'm not aware of it becoming standard since.

I'm sure its chargeable as plumber said the 2012 / 13 model started to charge

Thank for the info guys.

I'll let you know when the car turns up in the next few weeks.

Hi , be interested to know if your car comes with black side mouldings , as they are now an option even on elegance models.

I'm currently using a 320Gb portable USB hard drive with my MDI lead  :)

Fitted mine myself. The line in the lower 1/3 of the door means you cant put them on wonky. Simply peel off the backing tape, heat witha hairdryer, and stick it on. Then use the hairdryer to apoly more heat once its on as it ensures its stuck fully.

Done mine 5 months ago and they are still holding strong

Hi Race Blue,

I'll let you know regarding the mouldings.

Apparently my car has the spare wheel too.

Which is a plus for me!

Thanks be interesting to see what it looks like without mouldings , what colour you getting?

I'll post some pics when I get it.

The colour is Denim Blue. Hope I don't get the mouldings, to be honest!

My HTP (2) did not have the mouldings, my Elegance does. It's just a matter of preference but I like the mouldings as I think the Fabia looks a bit slab sided without, plus of course you get the bit of car park protection.

Hi all,

Took delivery of the Fabia today.

No MDI and no mouldings. Not bothered really, don't like the mouldings and I may swap out the head unit

for a DAB/Bluetooth/USB unit at some stage/

Love the car! 48 mpg on the 35 mile drive back from the dealer, suits me!

Adrian

We've had a few go Fabia to Citigo and the associated comments.

I may be wrong but you may be the first Citigo to Fabia we've had so it would be nice to have your comparisons too once you had it a while ?

Which Elegance did you get, whichever I'm sure you'll love it as it will have a few very nice extra bells and whistles.

Good Luck, happy days

Hi horkin,

My Fabia is a 1.2 TSi manual, denim blue.

The main reason I changed is that I ferry my elderly (90) mother around quite a lot.

She found that the Citigo I had (75ps Elegance Greentech) was quite low. Lowered suspension I think.

This meant that when parked near a kerb, she was kind of dropping into the car when entering.

Not good at that age!

So I went for something that bit higher. It's called the hip point, I think.

Anyway, the Fabia is much better and she's very pleased.

Nothing wrong with the Citigo, a fine car. Low tax, low MPG etc.

Just that the Fabia suits me better. I appreciate the extra grunt of the engine too.

I'll do some comparisons when I've had the Fabia a bit longer.

Adrian

Hi River' I am very familiar with the "hip point"  My daughter has a Hyundai coupe and they have to lift me out, once I've fallen in :giggle:

Thanks for info be great to see a pic sometime. I had citigo as a loan car and I have to say although it was a nice car I was glad to get back into my fabia!

@horkin - Oh dear, that doesn't sound good!

Mum's much more confident getting into the Fabia, so that's an improvement.

@Race Blue

Nothing wrong with the Citigo, I would've been quite happy to stay with it.

I'll post a pic of the Fabia over the weekend.
