Got the vRS dyno'd. 'An underpowered fabia'

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

Went to a rolling road day today at JKM Performance. My car is an 05 plate fabia vrs with a stage 1 remap on it. It came out at 164.8 bhp & 300lbs/ft.

I was a bit frustrated the car only managed to get 164.8 bhp as it does seem quite low for horsepower.

Anyone got any ideas? I was hoping for at least 170 bhp

Cheers,

Oli

I will take it that the car is mapped? How does it drive? Does it feel smooth? That figure is actually good, bear in mind that it's nearly 35 hp over stock.

Good torque as well

By 'stage 1' do you mean a generic map or is it a custom map? only when you get a custom map will you see 170+... I think that's how it works anyways lol

Yeah thats with it mapped, and it's pretty smooth yeah, fairly minimal smoke as well, also it's a generic map.

ah yes, the heartbreak rollers at jkm

those figures sound pretty good for a boggo fabia

Those are very good figures.

Most stage 1 mapped cars will be around that figure but dyno'd at generous places lol.

Also alot of people quote figures that they are told they will achieve rather than proven too ;)

Mine is 166bhp and 315lbs/ft it just depends on what rollers you use, it think

That makes me feel a tad better now guys haha

I got a before and after rolling road so I could use that as a guideline on how accurate the rollers were, did 131 bhp standard and 177bhp with a custom map and a few mods, so I think they were pretty accurate lol

What other mods did you have? Also is yours an AZR?

Looks nice and smooth to me. Anything from 165 to 175 is good for a remapped pd130.

Welcome to the dyno lottery.

All depends how it drives really. Figures are just pub talk lol.

Mine made 145bhp standard and after a r tech stage1 map it was 174bhp. But I was more impressed with the way it drives now and pulls higher up the revs.

Looks good to me, enjoy the torque, and don't worry about the BHP  :D

I believe JKM rollers to be very accurate and consistently so.

My stage 1 fabia ran +/- 6bhp across 4 years on their rollers.

No-one has said it yet, but it ain't about the headline figure, its about how it drives.

Or to look at it another way, BHP makes your c.0ck look big, but torque wins races

If you want to cheer yourself up then go to AMD essex.

On their rollers you'll get about 180 odd and 310lb/ft torque

And then you'll realise they are only numbers and its how the

car drives that counts.

I was just typing that out myself.

Lol, some very interesting comments there! But all very similar, so thanks. The car drives well, it flys off from stand still and seems pretty nippy even up into the lower gears

All of the above +1 :D

Remember it's a...

my Ibiza made loads more torque than petrol cars with about the same power yet flat out, and in a straight line they were about the same speed... :'(  I got more mpgs though...

I have to say that is a very smart power curve to me, regardless of the actual peak power.  I would take this map than one which is 10bhp more, but really "peaky".

Thats all a pd130 puts out.... Realistically

+1, nice torque curve, like mine

really need a remap now with me 5 speed box :D
