Good bye to my Yeti

Featured Replies

Well after just 8 months of ownership I've decided I needed a change. The yeti has been a great car but it was the wrong choice for me.

I went from a Fabia VRS so the performance was rather muted and this turned out to be more of an issue than I had anticipated.

So I've ordered a new Octy VRS to replace my Yeti, so in about 4 months I'll be saying good bye to my yeti.

Shame it didn't suit your needs, I guess its not for everyone.

I hope you didn't lose out too much financially.

I love mine, thank goodness after the distance travelled and the palaver to get it.

Good luck with the Octy when it arrives, at least you've had a taste of the Yeti.

I considered the new Octy quite  carefully but decided that it was too close in size/feel to my current Accord. The Yeti seemed completely different to everything that I've ever had and this plus the financial side of things made me order a Yeti.

Is it a new MQB platform Octavia VRS you're getting? If it is, then I'm sure you'll be very happy from what I saw of it.

Which yeti was it out of interest?

Says 1.4TSi in the sig. Perhaps they should have got the 1.8TSi if performance was a requirement.

Sorry to hear that Lewjo. I've just sold my scirocco 2.0 tsi and I'm picking up my yeti tomorrow. I hope I don't miss the scirocco too much.

I've been considering the same change.last December I bought a yeti 1.2 tsi se. Changed from a Mondeo titanium x sport diesel. I got the yeti because I rarely cover more than 4000 miles a year. I'm just missing the power and I'm very disappointed with the visible stone chips on my car. With my yeti being corrida red it shows up the grey primer underneath. I've been looking at an Octavia vrs petrol MY10 but I don't think I'd get enough for mine. I would miss my yeti when the snow comes because it's in it's element then.

Yeah it's a 1.4TSI and in hindsight I should have gone for the 1.8. Power aside it's been a fantastic car and I still recommend them.

The Octy I've ordered is indeed the new one on the MQB, taken an estate for a few hour long drives and it's such a great car. The comfort isn't compromised heavily by the stiffer suspension and it makes overtaking totally effortless. It's also very well refined and the standard kit is generous enough for my needs, although I did add Cruise, Park assist and sunset glass.
