Are diesel dsg Touran's rare beasts or keepers?

Featured Replies

Still looking for a dsg derv touran in a decent spec and 2- max 4 years old within 50 miles but they're like rocking horse ****. Don't even start on one with xenons as well.

Only ones I can find seem to be older or pre regs that are over my budget.

I must see at least 5 2009-2011 in good spec every day.

Plenty of diesel's, plenty of dsg, just not together!

price range, Simon?

VW Touran Diesel 140? or 170? (I assume they do both)

DSG

Age? 2009-2011?

Miles?

Colour?

Options? Xenons (if poss)

Budget?

I like car hide and seek lol

Max of £15, ideally a bit less.

Like the SE due to trim, would really like sat nav and bluetooth, parking sensors all round and factory xenons.

2.0 is quite hefty on tax, so might opt for the 1.6.

1.6 in a touran ? Youde surely be better off with the 2.0 £15 k though :o mmmm 18-20 k maybe

Few with parking sensors/assist but the options seem rare. I'm up in 6 hours for work but I'll look properly tonorrow

Thanks. Loads of petrol match specs or S.

Coming from an elegance with a load of toys getting worried about how much might have to be sacrificed.

Been looking mainly on the vw site, as thinking is at least I'll have some comeback if it has full dealer history and something goes wrong even though being an approved used car as we all know from recent posts means FA

Why restrict yourself to 50 miles?

If you really want the right car then you are going to have to look further afield.

Xenon's are rare on the Touran.

They seem pretty rare having had a bit of a hunt.

Closest I can find is a 2008 DSG 2.0 TDi Sport with Nav/Phone/Rear sensors/Xenons and 35,000 miles for £12000 Seems a little over priced but that could be due to the options and few that are around.

If something goes wrong, I want fairly local.

No point in buying say 100 miles away, having an issue, and the dealer saying they'd gladly sort, just return it to us. Even if a chain a recent BBC radio consumer show said contractors with that particular garage even if part of a chain of dealerships for a particular brand (like Vindis, Allen Ford or whoever). Even these can be franchises.

To muddy the water I can find plenty of decent spec Smax WITH XENONS for decent money.

Trouble is the depreciation and Ford dealer network.......

Thanks Matt.

No worries, I'll forward any I find that are decent matches. I've got a soft spot for the Touran, I'd happily have one as a daily (old shape for the money I'd be looking at) but the newer ones with nice spec are pretty smart. Is it replacing the Sharan?

  • Author

No, Sharan is a work car, so it'd be the Octavia for the chop.

Might sound out the local dealer when next in, in case they might know of any owners thinking of a change.

Have emailed a load of dealerships this morning in the hope they may know of one, or may tempt a customer to trade in.

Some nice pre reg, but well over my budget which I've already pushed to our ultimate maximum.

Initially swmbo was against DSG opening up availability, but she's now sold on a DSG.

Looks like Xenons isn't going to happen, even sat navigation and phone seems to be pushing things.

Have kept to dealership chains within 40 miles specifically because if anything goes wrong you have to legally go back to the garage you got from unless a slam dunk with vw warranty.

Doesn't help the Octavia is worth less than I'd thought/hoped :(

Well out of 8 email enquiries, had 6 replies and one out of office until tomorrow.

Looks like there are some ex demos and trade ins due to land very soon.  Off to look at one at the weekend.  No sat nav, and been told by everyone there are so few xenon equipped cars in the UK to basically give up on that option.

Upshot is the one at the weekend, although over my desired budget, is doable through the savings in moving to diesel; and loaded with lots of extras which would make it around £27k new.

Best get the Octy vaccuumed and washed.  Shame no time to sort the Alloys, but the difference between OK and poor condition is what it'd cost to sort anyway.

3 weeks since we picked up our Touran and pretty happy.

We both love the dsg, swmbo had the casting vote as drives the car daily, and the move to diesel means fill ups have gone from weekly to fortnightly which has offset the monthly repayments.

Just a shame about the dealer who I didn't want to deal with due to past experience, but they were the only ones within 75 miles with the spec we wanted at the time.

What engine/spec combination did you get?

  • Author

The 1.6 this in se trim. Pretty much the same spec as our Octavia Elegance was.

Just need to retro fit fogs and sat nav. Although retro fitting fogs seems to be flipping expensive! £500 just in parts, half of which is a new convenience module and wiring harness :(

Pictures?? :)

Will get some up over the weekend

How far did you have to travel in the end to get what you wanted?

  • Author

About 25 miles.

There are probably loads on the Vw approved search tool now, but at the time there were only 10 1.6 TDI SE with DSG in the whole of the UK.
