  • ok, on first impressions of "normal" driving , no difference (I wouldn't expect there to be....) then I tried a corner today that I can push on (a "usual" corner) and a speed that would normally induc

  • Congratulations.  I messaged AKS tuning to ask, and they can get H&R ARBs with no issues, so get ordering.  Its worth it!!.     AKS Tuning: 01234 822324

  • I suppose I will be the weight penalty if I join you!!  :wonder:    I am sure I will take a seat with you at Oulton Park, I am going to have a go at photographs at CC, might even fit the roof bars o

ring them, it is probably the same as a Polo or Ibiza and may be listed as such.

Yeah, give them a ring, websites are unreliable!

Was going to do a ring around tomorrow, odd that it seems all the main name suppliers only show the front.

Have put my wanted post up anyway in case someone reads and wants to make me a nice offer.

Does the H&R generally come in a bit more expensive than Whiteline? Front looks to be around £50 more than the equiv whiteline.

Do you mind if I ask where you sourced this?

My searches keep bringing up the front sway bar only, leaving me with just the whiteline as an option.

Alex from AKS tuning offers great prices on these.  It is more expensive than the whiteline but its also alot thicker and stiffer.

  • Author

I couldn't fit it myself, the H&R is the stiffest, not adjustable, and needs prying in! Worth the effort though....

Thanks Sy, Shark, I liked the H&R option for being stiff, fit and forget aswell as looking more substantial than the whiteline, then reading comments and Mr Riders review, the choice is clear.

Plus it's blue......is it wrong to make my future suspension upgrade choices based on colour coding with the bar? : )

I've only just started to explore it, haven't pushed limits yet ( public roads and all) but will he at castle comb in a few weeks!

Will be looking forward to hearing how you get on, suspect I will be sporting a nice new blue RARB before then so will be interesting to compare notes.

Interesting thread! I'm considering the same upgrade to my vrs wagon, but am possibly going to do the front LBJ and bushes too.

Back to the arb, how much more stable is it faster corners? This is where I think the vrs is poor, so much float and bump steer is hard to judge where the wheels are pointing at times. I guess it can get too imbalanced though, for example I always found the original mondeo st24 to be ever so slightly unstable at the rear if you chucked it around, and the lack of predictability unnerved me, so I didn't find it as quick as it should have been, and never drove it that close to its limit of grip.

It's much better, there seems to much more body control, it's hard to put into words, but it gives confidence ,more stable, especially with undulations and bumps ect.... The rear is stable making the front more controllable ( less effected by movement at the rear)

I guess that limiting the roll means there is less opportunity or possibility of camber and toe changes in the front during cornering. Does it improve straight line tracking, mine isn't the last word precision, and is miles away from a 5 series in that respect.

Straight line is the same with tram lining, but its more stable , again it feels more 'solid' just hard to explain ... It rides better

Is there much benefit to installing the front one too?

  • Author

Apparently so, although I have no experience of this, best to get sy to answer that one!

Here's some sad news, just called a few suppliers and noone can offer the rear H&R ARB, doesn't appear listed anymore in the H&R online catalogue either.

Hoping someone can confirm that this isn't the case but general consensus was heading towards the possibility this may have been discontinued.

  • Author

I doubt it would be discontinued, they wouldn't build it , not to make it, the development has been done! Try H&R themselves instead of suppliers, they probably don't have any stock, and make it on demand!

And not online, just ring 'em!

Have you spoken to AKS tuning.  He had them in a group buy i organised december last year, so if anyone can source them its him.

Ill link him to this thread.

I initially was going for just the rear but thought stuff it, its a group buy i might as well do both.  The handling on my Fabia with the H&R ARBs, VWR springs and poly bushed suspension (total cost about £700) was nothing short of sublime.  Masses of grip and feel, masses of traction.  Genuinely an impressive setup.

Quick peak of it at Silverstone here, where the day was spent mixing it with Porsche carreras and race cars etc, where it did very well until the limp mode issues reared its head at the end of the day.  We were on test maps though.

Thanks Sy,

Been a bit tied up at work today, trying to call now but engaged solid. Just picturing the floodgates having opened on the sales phone with hordes of Brisky members demanding rarb's : )

Seriously much appreciated.

Spoke to Alex at AKS, the H&R RARB is very much available : )

Update to follow.

Why dont you all look into organising another group buy on them like i did in December.  Done properly and including the likes of H&R springs, spacers, coilovers & ARBs in the offer for a large variety of platforms means you'll easily hit the required people to run the group buy, so all save money.  Win Win!!

Erm steal my thunder much...........

Have agreed a group buy with Alex @AKS

We will only need 5 takers and he has agreed half price shipping too : )

Will post details and link up this evening. To include the H&R ARB kits and Springs
