felicia pickup 1.9. and golf cl 97 1.9 td

Featured Replies

Hi. I have a 2000 Felicia pickup which I love and want to keep. The engine is knackered so it needs a new one. I have found a golf cl 97 with a turbo diesel engine. It all looks pretty similair apart from.the golf has an engine mount near at the front going towards the rad. Whereas the fez's are either side and at the back. Would it be tricky to swap the engine into the fez? Do the mounts just unbolt? I have theAny help would be massively appreciated. Thanks Kai

hi, yes the engine mounts will unbolt and the td engine will have the holes drilled/tapped to take the felly engine mounting assembly. the pickup gearbox will bolt up too but you will need to use the flywheel from your existing engine.. the problems start with the angle that the engine sits, in a golf its designed to lean back slightly but in the felicia the diesels lean forward, this means that the intake manifold sits too high and will prevent the bonnet from closing, but it is possible to cut this down if you know a decent fabricator.. for further info try sending a pm to a member on here called rolo, he's done a td conversion, i think jim (felicia16v) has done one too.
