PD130 blown turbo

Featured Replies

how much is a blown PD130 turbo worth?

its just the blade inside thats gone?

or what about if i got it reconditioned and wanted to sell it on, what prices am i lookin at?

Cheers,

Dan

If it's the KKK not much as many turbo refurb companies generally don't like to touch them as there seem to be a fair few reports of young KKK turbos going pop.

There maybe someone (on here) who wants a blown turbo to make a hybrid or to have as a spare (Pasty seems to like to hoard these :giggle:), but again, the KKK is a stumbling block for some and you will need to sign up to Freedom if you want to sell anything on here.

cheers mate, the turbo is from an 2004 pre face lift model. not sure on turbo without lookin at it (its at home)

just really dont know what to price it up as etc

Well I would say it's a pretty good bet you have the standard KKK turbo on your vRS and if you believe the many, many threads about these turbos, they are a little unpredictable and as such, a fair few of the turbo companies wont go near them.

There have been a couple of companies which have been mentioned on here that would hybrid/refurb the kkk, but in the same thread someone emailed them asking for a price to hybrid the KKK and they refused, (an abstract was posted on the thread but have no idea where it is) so I'm personally none the wiser.

I have seen a couple go on here around the £150 mark if that helps.

cheer for the help mate, really appreciate it.

just wanna get rid of it tbh, jus takin up space in my garage lol

ta again

No worries dude

Might be worth paying £12 for Freedom membership (if for nothing else other than the discounts from the sponsors (and a sticker if you like that kinda thing :D)!) and putting it up on here. Just a thought :)

cheers again mate, nice to get quick responses

I'm bored in work with no job role so have to keep myself entertained :bandit:

I bought a blown 130 turbo last year for £30.  Just to give you an idea.  I only bought it for parts.  There's no point in rebuilding them unless you only have very very light damage.

its just the blade inside thats gone apparently, according to darkside developments

Well the impeller wheel is about £40 and a kindly turbo refurber might balance it for about £20 - £30 for you.

But I wouldn't buy a turbo without checking the play in the shaft first.

what if there is play in the shaft?

what if there is play in the shaft?

Then it needs a complete rebuild and is not worth doing, frankly it's worthless and you should scrap it.

Pasty seems to like to hoard these :giggle:

Rude! Although true ;)

I only hoarded removed good to go KKK units as I was worried (correctly) about the ones on the cars blowing up.

Although that said I do now have a stash of 2 dead units in my garage which I'm not sure what to do with.

The KKK units can't be ripped apart and hybridised like the Garrett units so rebuilding is the only option.

Even then I only found one company (AET Tubros) who were prepared to touch a KKK and they wanted £300 to rebuild it.

Personally as it stands I think e 2 dead units I have are worth about £50 each if I was very lucky in finding a buyer. If they were refurbed I'd hope to sell them £400 but again would need to be lucky with a buyer who wanted to spend that on a newly refurbed but not hybridised turbo...
