Next iPhone Instalment

Does anybody know anything about it or a release date?

I've tried to have a look on the Internet but there's so much bull**** floating around such as see through iPhone and bla bla bla.

My contract renewal is in 2 weeks and wondering if its worth waiting for? Haven't got a bad thing to say about my current 4.

I presume you mean it's when your contract ends which is totally different. All that will happen then is that you will be free to move with a month's notice to whichever network that can get you the updated iPhone with the best deal.

I read somewhere that Apple have "an Event" planned for September. No-one knows what for but it expected to be the new iphone.

Announced on the 10th September and then presumably on sale a week later.

The flagship iPhone 5S will look broadly the same as the 5, with the usual spec bump, and possibly a jump in storage to 32/64/128gb. The big new feature is rumoured to be a fingerprint sensor under the home button to be used to unlock it.

There's also a slightly cheaper 5C with a plastic rear shell in a range of colours and a spec similar to the current 5, but maybe with 8/16/32GB storage.

I've heard 10th September too. I'm in the same boat, I have a 4s and the touchscreen is playing up, I want to upgrade, but want to hang on until the new phone comes out. I have ordered a new touchscreen for the interim.

That's not an easy swap on a 4S as the screen is the last component to come out.

It took me an hour to do one at work :(

Good luck

I will be sticking with Vodafone as they get best coverage in this area and we have one of those sure signal boxes. My contract was 24 months but I'm allowed to upgrade my phone after 21 months in store or 18 months online. Next month is the 21 month mile stone on my contract. Although now I will end up waiting a little for the new iPhone. Or just wait for the 24 month contract to end - then cancel it and get a sim only contact for the phone.

Not long to wait then, although the S models well the 4S seemed to be a bit of a let down. My mate has a 5 and he's on his 3rd one! Problem after problem after problem - a call to him is a nightmare as his microphone keeps going muffled after a short time.

Not sure I'd fancy getting tied up in a 24 month contract with one. Can't fault my current 4 and it looks exactly the same as the day I got it. Never used it uncovered and without front and rear protectors. Local mobile place offered me £80 - £100 for it. Think I'll just give it to my mum though.

The cheap rubberised plastic cased iPhone is due October along with the 5S

Polycarbonate I believe, rather than rubberised. Should be more durable than the 3GS

I loved my Iphone 5, was a great all rounder and never had any issues lol.

Not as bad as the 4 though. That's a headache wrapped in a migrane!

There didn't seem to be much difference based on the videos I watched

I hope it is in September, as it may mean that they will be available when I am due to upgrade my 4S.  It was very difficult to get the 4S because my upgrade date was 3 days after the release of the 4S and everywhere was sold out.

They will be in short supply for a month or so. They always are.

Thank you, been having a read around the web today, it would seem the HTC One is also getting very good reviews! I've always been disappointed with the cameras on the iPhones not sure if that's the case with the 5 / 5S though.

The HTC one is good but you can't add a memory card or change the battery. Both deal breakers for a lot of android users (who are used to being able to do both of these). Otherwise apparently an excellent phone

After 4 years of iPhone I've switched to a HTC one. Blood the current iPhone into the weeds and I can't image the next one will be much of a step forward.

Please don't refer to me as an Apple fanboi, I like apple products and am happy owning them. but even Apple has faults.

And I only flame people if they truly deserve it, and I'm afraid, you don't.   :)

I do wonder why people who don't like Apple products see an iPhone thread and think that's somewhere that needs the benefit of their opinion?

Obsessives on both sides need to get a life.

You're right hardly the most considered response. I find it irritating that there is so much apple stuff "made for ipad / ipod" and very little for anything else, as if the entire population owns an ipad. I just bought an android tablet, trying to find a suitable generic case was challenging, yet my local Tesco had dozens of different cases and covers for apple stuff. I certainly dont want to start another diesel v petrol debate...

Had a mobile brick/phone since 1985 and cant beleive we are still having issues with reception to this day!

Havent had one more reliable than the Nokia 6310 it has to be said.(still got it and a others even older).

Currently using a Iphone4 which has a defective power button and doesnt always respond to commands.(has a hard life).

Have a HTC Desire S that I just couldnt get on with as found the interface cluttered .

The Nokia 920 in cupboard exudes quality but again cant warm to the operating system.

So its Apple again, purely for simplicity and the wealth of manufacturer support that comes with it. The 5 has had a battering (deserved)for sure so Im hoping Apple will respond with a suitable upgrade. Be interesting to see what they can come up with!
