Featured Replies

Wow, that's quite a wait if its accurate.

Same time as Skoda Norway has confirmed on Facebook.

They have also confirmed that Scout will come with a 2.0 tdi (184hp) DSG

  • Uh oh! An Octaviaaaaaaargh to go with the Citi-Go-Go?

  • Don't want to send this too far off topic or one of the new mods will be along in a moment to slap my wrist...   But yes, I've had a deposit in since December 2012, deliveries start for RHD in Sprin

  • Yep, I've heard it is a nice engine, but like the 1.9 TDI its far behind the times and will go.   I just looked on vw.de and the Alltrack is sold with the 210hp 2.0 TSI. Put that in the Scout here a

It's too long to be without a Scout version IMO.

And they needs a petrol option too.

That's the model I expected it to be. Will be interesting to see what the competition brings until then.

That sounds really nice!

If SUK will be allowed to sell them here, you can get it on wheels that aren't too big and you don't have to have leather, I will probably get one (the wrong handbrake is less bothersome on a DSG).

I'm guessing a list price of 27k, based on the price of the VRS diesel DSG estate and the difference between a 4x4 and regular SE.

Oh the days when DtD would arrange for Marlborough to deliver 2.0 TDI CR 4x4 Scout FL to your door for £17k. Feels just like yesterday.... ;)

I tried pointing that out in another thread and they wanted to try me for witchcraft :) However, it's closest competitor, the Legacy, is even more expensive and then it goes higher and higher from there.

I wonder what Skoda UK plan to have fill the gap until the new Scout arrives? The new 4x4 Octavia is a bit...restrained.

And wow, that Tesla is massive. A full 10cm longer and wider than a Superb Estate.

Skoda have pre-built enough stock of the MkII Scout to see them through until the end of next year when the MkIII will arrive, albeit in standard specification.

Most of them are sat at the docks and are being drip fed into dealers with a good portion reserved for the emergency services.

These pictures have been posted several times before and are Photoshopped, although aside from the alloys I think they will end up being a quite accurate reflection of what it will look like.

Apologies Silver1011. I did a search and couldn't find that post before I posted again thinking it had not been posted before.

Legacy and Outback are perfect example of simple workhorse $20k vehicle that due to deranged politics of the group importing them to UK more than double in price by the time they reach our shores. So, both models that should be competing with Octavia in sub £20k price bracket, attempt to fight A4 and A4 Allroad on the other side of £30k. The distribution group behind Subaru is also known for outstanding "success" of Daihatsu and Isuzu brands in UK and currently, I believe, attempts to launch Chinese knock off pickup trucks known as Great Wall on British Isles.

O2FL Scout distribution was discontinued by Skoda UK in early 2012, wasn't it?

This is a list of all the 4x4 (mainly diesel) estate cars I can find and their base list price.

Skoda Octavia 4x4 - 22,390 (21,490 for 105hp 1.6)

Skoda Superb 4x4 - 27,105

Subaru Legacy - 26,865 (22,995 petrol)

Subaru Outback - 28,870

Audi A4 Allroad - 31,810

Audi A4 Quattro - 33,310 (32,520 petrol)

Audi A6 Allroad - 43,805

Audi A6 Quattro - couldn't find price for new ones

VW Passat Alltrack - 28,985

Volvo XC70 - 34,595

BMW 3 xDrive - 31,335 (29,035 petrol)

Some Jaguar?

There is not a big selection and the Octavia, while still being considerably more than it used to be, is still the cheapest by far.

Obviously the cost to buy varies as different discounts are available on various cars.

For example, you can get the 2.0 diesel Audi A4 Allroad for £24,023.26p

A whopping £7,708 off the RRP.

Arguably a better place to put your money from a depreciation point of view?

Yeah, I haven't taken any discounts into account on that. That's certainly quite a big one though and I'll have to bear it in mind. I prefer to run cars into the ground so the depreciation is less of an issue.

Interesting how its an almost exclusively VAG game, though. And only the Skoda and BMW have a manual handbrake ;)

... possibly one of which is actually on the right side ?!? ;)

Haha, lets not get back to that :) Yeah, its on the driver's side in the BMW, but going with a DSG with hillhold will make it a non-issue anyway.

Very good link Niall

"Next year we'll get the new Fabia, then we'll get the Octavia Scout, and then there's the big issue of the new Superb in 2015. This new Superb will be a revolution for Skoda - it will set a new benchmark. After that, we can focus on a new SUV that sits above the Yeti. There's a rumour in the market that it will be called ‘Snowman'. It will NOT be called ‘Snowman'"

And let that be the end of the mistranslated rumours spread by AutoExpress in regard to next Superb being a SUV and Octavia replacing Superb in lineup at crazy price.

So, two VRS's in mind... Rapid is sure to be one of them but what else?

Ah!  That's good news for Superb owners then.

As to the name Scout being used instead of Outdoor.  I think an Octavia Scout is like a Golf GTI.  If you change the GTI to Golf GBT it just won't be the same!  It is like a "brand" in it its own right. Which they stupidly tried to put on the other models - now they've realised this was a mistake, they will keep just the one GTI, néé I mean Scout, and call the faux ones Outdoor.  Makes sense.

But there's a Polo GTI also... Scout sounds sooo much better than Outdoors! Weird how they tried to rebrand it.

I know...  And see how well that sells.  So VW should really call that the Polo GT and leave the GTI moniker for the Golf alone.  Just like Scout should be for the Octy alone.

It has occurred to me that if the Scout is sold with the 185hp diesel engine, will it come with the huge brakes from the VRS? If so, what kind of tyres can they put on the 17s that requires? Will they up the rolling radius like in the MKII so it can have larger profile tyres or just follow the softroader trend and put rubber bands on?

It's all speculation until Skoda actually announce a launch date.

Even the dealer I spoke to could be wrong!

True, this whole thread is speculation and rumour. But hey, how long can it realistically take for them to slap some plastic trim on an Octavia? :)
