replacing the turbo. any guides or help appreciated

Featured Replies

Hi all. Putting in a stronger ko3s turbo. How do I go about it? What tools, tourque settings and what do I need to be aware of? I am also putting in a new exhaust manifold.

Side note, I noticed I had a thread drilled into the side of my inlet manifold. Normal?

This looks like a decent guide:

It's a bit of a fiddly job but take your time and it's not so bad to do.

I didn't take the exhaust manifold off, I hear a couple of the bolts can be tricky.

Get a mate to help you when re-fitting the turbo or you will do a lot of cursing trying to hold it in place and get the bolts in :D

Cheers for that. Doesn't seem to bad :/ Since i've recently been in that area and taken or moved away most of those bits, getting there should be easy due to prior knowledge.

I can do it in 3 hours max take manifold off as it so much easier but use plenty of wd40 get it lose

i did it in 3 hours to lol my manifold bolts were crazy easy,3/8 ratchet very little force and no penetrating fluids, never been taken off to the best of my knowledge so got lucky i guess  but is a fairly easy job tbh
