DVD video authoring

Featured Replies

Hi I have a Sony Digital Camcorder. I want to make decent DVD videos from the captured video. I currently use Nero Vision 3 which came with the burner. It does an OK job but is limited when it comes to doing fancy stuff with added music etc. Any suggestions as to the best software fro doing the job?

If you have XP, the standard Moviemaker is actually very good. Alternatively I'd try Adobe Premiere if you can afford it.

I have been thinking of Premiere Elements the cut down home version. Trouble with Movie Maker is that it can not produce DVD video. You can capture your video and add titles, transitions etc but to end up with a DVD video you have to save the movie first to HDD, which encodes it and take ages, then import it into another package, such as Nero Vision which reencodes it (loosing some quality each time this happens) and once again takes ages. Also fairly certain you can't add musci in Windows Movie Maker?

I've got Adobe Premier 6.5 (came with my DV-editing card which brought the cost down! ;)) and it's fantastic. Can do pretty much everything you would want to do with a movie and I've had comments on how professional the output looks (effects, transitions, etc)..... :D

Won't be much use to you unless you have a Pinnacle DV card as the software has been tailored to the Pinnacle card's features. There are "evaluation copies" of most of the DV software on the file-sharing network though ;)

What does it say about Pinnacle Studio 9 if Pinnacle package Adobe Premier with their analog video capture hardware!

When I bought it a couple of years ago Studio was in its infancy and I got some special upgrade offers to move to Studio. I liked Premiere so didn't bother upgrading, but I've heard people say Studio is a good alternative. Whether it is or not is another matter! ;)
