window tints diy

Featured Replies

Has anybody ever attempted tintin ther own windows with pre cut tints ??

Thought i mite give it a try as it dosent seem that hard :/ but just thought id ask..

Also dose anybody have anypics of ther fabia with darksmoke tints??

Most DIY jobs end up with lots of air bubbles which is really bad form.I'd pay a bit more and have it done properly.

Dark tints. As above, DIY normally looks naff (IMO).

I watched the specialist who tinted our conservatory roof a while back; looked like a very tough job. Lots of water in a pressurised mister, a heat gun and assorted silicone scrapers to get all the fine bubbles out. Buy cheap - pay twice.

I had all the windows on my Fabia done for £140. He was a proper tinting bloke the catch was that I helped him. It was difficult to start but pretty easy going once I'd watched him do it.

I did the windows on the back of my mums boyfriends van, they came out really good! Couple of bubbles BUT :-

Buy a decent tinting film!

Do it where there is no wind or dust / dirt!

Keep all your tools local including a sharp blade!

Then stand back and admire your work. A lot easier said than done though.

The bloke that done mine made it look easy, I suspect it isnt though, not if putting my screen protector on my phone is anything to go by lol. I paid £100 for the back 3 so if I'd bought decent tint stuff that'd would have been £30? £50? then a good 3 or 4 hours work to get a reasonable job. I might as well go to work for the 3 - 4 hours and earn the cash to pay someone who knows what they are doing :D

That's a really good price! The place closest to me wanted £180 for the rear '5'.

The bloke I went to even allowed me and helped me fix my deadlocked door too.

180 sounds steep. Where are you based? I had mine done professionally for 100. He did start at 120 but a bit of haggling never hurt anyone :)

£180 for all four sounds good (for round here at least). I got a deal cos I got 2 of us to get them done, I think it'd be nearer £120 normally.

Oh is it front and back ? I was counting the five as back and quarter lights with rears drop glass. My bad :/ lol

Oh I might have read it wrong actually lol.  :wall:

Lol one of those things. backs round my way is around 120 though. Its like fabia mania around halifax way lol.
