had to arrange 7 day cover and had a good laugh

Featured Replies

had to make the call to arrange 7 day cover for our new citigo hopefully arriving 1st September

went through all the normal info and sorted the 7 day cover no problems

then the obligatory quote,

£320 / year, I have to say I did actually laugh at the poor guy on the other end of the phone, then explained our existing insurance company had quoted £170 for same cover

then came the hard sell, well we can knock £50 off as an introductory discount, then into the "we will only use genuine parts", followed by the "only repaired at skoda dealers" (and how many dealers have full body shop and paint facilities??), still not budging I said that's still over £100 more then offered "refund of cancellation charges upto £100"

after 25 minutes on phone I politely declined but agreed to details being sent out (for future entertainment)

Similar experience here, as I think I've already posted on another thread.

Quoted £312 by Skoda Insurance, but renewed elsewhere a couple of weeks later for £155 with (in theory) better cover. Cheapest quote was £124.

Insured with eSure = £130. Skoda quote =£600

is the "skoda" cover still underwritten by Zurich ? they've always been at the expensive end of the results on comparison websites

I know a couple of years ago VW insurance was underwritten by Allianz.

Im with Allianz

Cheapest quote off comparison sites

£180 for year protected

I find the insurance firms that advertise as cheap for the over 50s are always more expensive.

The renewal for my Smart is £280 which is £30 less than last year, and includes leagal cover and protected no claims, however the lowest quotes have been from Swiftcover at £230 and One Call £220. They have received bad reviews on review sites.Has anyone ever used these companies?

The strange thing about One call is they quote £220,but when you click on important information,it takes you to a list of charges including £6-00 for posted documents, £35 change of car,and the strangest £60 new business.Does that mean they add £60 to the £220?If so it would make it £280 which is useless.I would have to phone them to make sure.

I did get quotes for the Citigo just to see how much, and they all came in at around £200-£240 so not much different from my Smart.Living in a big city does not help i guess.

I found that when getting quotes from comparison sites

Very rarely do you get the exact price quoted, it usually goes up when you finalise the policy one way or another

Happy with my price though, and Sheffield isn't exactly a crime free city lol

I've not made the call yet but I'm chuffed with my quote of £430..... Wife hasn't passed and has zero no claims! The £430 is over £300 cheaper than the S reg Fiesta she is currently learning in.... Work that one out!!!
