ebay.

Paul just do a search on google and the like for TT5. You will have to register the product with Tom Tom via the web so don't bother with less than original software.

ebay.
Hi m8... does the software work and who was the seller... friends after info

Software works on my mates,

Seller was topmangate. Looks like he has left ebay though, but you should still find links to software he sold.

Contrary to some people's beliefs, you do not need to register any software with tom tom.

Maybe not register, but you need to get an unlock code. Unless you know a way round this?

i bought a legit version.

TT5 seems pretty cool.. if i can just figure out how to ease communication between bloody bluetooth devices.

TTN5 - no registration or unlock codes - just install, load map(s) and go.

TTN3 needed unlock codes.

I have TT3, and a TT5 upgrade should be delivered in the next day or two. Did you install TT5 over TT3, or from new?

I think I should have made myslef a little clearer, it was a new install off TTN5 from a 'friend'. Disc also contains all European and USA maps.

Oh well, I've bought it now. Otherwise I could have tapped you up for a copy :)

There isnt an unlock code either. He just installed it and it worked, simpole as that.

I have a few gripes with TT5 over TT3

Pros:

Better maps

Better graphics

Easier to navigate

Integrated traffic function thats better than TT3

Cons:

User interface not as customisable as TT3, eg. the speed display is tiny in the corner. with TT3 you could put any of the displayed info wherever you liked. With TT5 its fixed.

Bluetooth is disabled when exiting the app (known bug)

Cant record GPS data as you could with TT3. Usefull for recording ring laps and autobahn speed tests.

Manny is the "exit" bug the only one? (ref bluetooth) I seem to have complications with BT connecting on startup to my GPS... i have to manually connect it every time. Even thought the phone part of my pda can and does auto connect to bluetooth for the handsfree.. (using parrot ck3300 with gps)

Well, I got my TomTom Navigator 5 today. I loaded the CD and got:

File f:\nvapp\TOMTOMGO.mnu

Line 0:

Error: could not read menu file

There is no such file anywhere on the CD! So I have contacted TomTom support.

Last time I had a problem installing TomTom 3. The maps wouldn't load into memory or the sd_card. I contacted TomTom support and they were useless. A Palm forum came up with the solution (select advanced install to a PC folder and then copy to sd_card), so I told TomTom how to do it. I hope they are better this time.

The problem MAY be down to your XDA rather than the software. I used to have an M2000 which is an XDAIIs variant from orange, and there were a lot of bluetooth issues.

Try these forums:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/front_page.php

http://www.modaco.com/Pocket_PC_Phone_Edition_Device_Specific-f87.html

On both forums, your device is listed under "Blue Angel".

Hi

I had this problem too when I tried to install the update. After much wracking my brain... I discovered that some CD writing software I had preinstalled on my Dell thought it was a writable CD. I uninstalled that software (If you check the rest of the error message you get, it will give a clue. Sorry I can't remember exactly what it was called now - I never used it!) And hey presto, the TomTom CD then autoran :D Hope that helps to fix your prob too.

You'll need to install the software to your PDA (I have a Palm so did it with hotsync) But DO NOT try to hot sync the maps! They are mahooooosive and caused hotsync to hang! There IS an option to install the maps to another location on your PC - you can then copy these to your card using a card reader.

A useful addition to TomTom is the 'Saftety Camera' overlays from Pocket GPS World

I didn't think that the speed camera database could be used with TTN5, that's why I haven't upgraded yet??

Anyone know for definite??????

I have the upgrade to TTN5 and the latest speedcamera data is working fine with TomTom :)

take the zip file, read the txt which tells you which files you need for your PDA type (mine's a Palm) and copy those.

Would be good to hear from anyone else using it.

Paul, the BT bug is the only one I am aware of. If I start TT5 and forget to start BT first then it takes around 30 seconds for the BT connection to startup and tomtom to find the reciever.

I have installed the pocketgps speed camera database on TT5 and it works great. With a bit of jiggery pokery its possible to get some more appropriate warning sounds from TT5 as well. All the details are on how to install the databse and how to configure the sounds are on the pocketgpsworld website.

Thanks Missy - you're a Hitty! It was an old IBM DLA installation that I have never used.

However, next problem is conduits. It cannot run the conduit. There is a patch for this for MAC users, but I cannot find one for the PC. Did you have these problems?

I didn't have this.

But I did upgrade my palm desktop software to the most current version for hotsyncing, as I'd read on a pocketgpsworld forum that this was a solution offered by TomTom support to one user who couldn't install.

Do you have a Palm? I've never had any other pocket PC so don't know what other active sync tools are used.

Yes, I have a Tungsten T5. I have the latest HotSync Manager (I think) 6.0.1. I have Outlook conduits, which work OK. I have unloaded FireWall, AntiVirus and other memory-resident software to no avail. I am also seeking help on the Brighthand Forum which has been quite helpful in the past.
