Sound from wheels

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have this strange sound comming from my

wheels (I think).

(Skoda Octavia mk1, 1.9 TDi, 110hp, 2000.-year of production)

It appears to be louder at speeds around 80km/h,

and then dissapears, when I speed up more.

I attached the sound to the post, so you can listen

and tell me what do you think it is,

and how to fix it.

You can hear it at 5s, 10s, 17s, 23s, and it's louder at 28s.

Please help me out if you can,

thanks!

Bump?

I'm guessing it's a wheel bearing.

How many miles on the car?

If it related to road speed or engine speed?

If you coast, is the noise still there?

If you swerve left or right, does the noise briefly go away?

If you turn lock-to-lock, do you get a bumping/cracking noise?

The sound is vague, but to me sounds like a bad tyre

Bearing??

Sounds like a tyre or wheel bearing to me.

If its a tyre, it'll change on different road surfaces.

Chuck the car about, can you get the noise to become louder or quieter?

mines just started doing exactly the same thing 77k miles  if you find out what it is in the next few days please post as i cant sort mine till end of next week   thanks
