couple of problems maybe related??

Featured Replies

2001 octavia vrs

first off,a low speed knocking sound which sounds maybe from the down pipe, apparent since fitting dogbone mount(torque settings checked and checked again).it doesn't sound like your common or garden metalic rattle of metal on metal, but a low level bumping noise when travelling over dips and bumps in the road.

secondly.slight loss of boost and a fluttering niose from the turbo, boost drop is only 2-3 psi with no real loss in power i can feel,on revo'd 4 bar optimax prog.turbo noise is not the pin crsip whistle you normally get,its there but with a slight flutter.

car has been on the ramps today and the exhaust checked, nothing sticks out to my eye.

i have searched but nothing deffinate has come up with the key words i've used.

any input welcome.

thanks. jase

turbo on the way out??

sounds like it may be waste gate related

i don't suppose the ECU retards the engine come service time?service indicator is on(being done asap),maybe it cuts it back a few psi until its reset?can't think of any more clutchign at straw questions i'm afraid :o

Fluttering noise could well be the diverter valve - especially if you hear it between gear changes.
