Does anyone out their have a fabia with manual steering or do I have the prototyppe as everything on this car has odd parts. Am having problems with heavy steering! Any ideas? Having to replace bearings so any feedback would b most appreciated.

Is this on the 1.4 MPI? Sounds like the steering pump, is the power steering light on? 

 

I had this problem for 100 miles then it somehow sorted it self out and I have not had it again for 3 years now. 

Check the power steering thread.

    They didn't import a fabia to the UK without power steering but did make a 1.0 mpi with manual steering for other markets. So you must have power steering fitted and it is broken lol.

    I think even the 1.0 had PAS it was just hydraulic though with a regular rotary pump.
