Reversing Sensors in wet weather

Featured Replies

Thanks vectra. You spray the outside or under the bonnet? I just took the headlamp out and can get my hand onto the back of the sensor in the front bumper. Is that where you sprayed it?

Spray it into the sensor as you look at it on the bumper.

Just a quick squirt will repel the water from lodging in there.

I am actually out of silicon spray at the moment but am going to ^Borrow^ some of my wife's Mr.Sheen, That should do as well. :P

Hmm Pledge I have will that work? I tried wiping it with a chamois

Pledge should work as well as MrSheen as they are both full of silicons.

If they dont work I cannot see any of them doing any harm.

pledge it is then, will see what happens

how do you remove the actual sensor to try to clean and remove the water from the rubber grommet thing it sits in

Yes, I think mine has the same problem.  If I wipe it it still sends false readings but if you blow the sensor hard it clears it. I'll give the polish a try! Would perhaps WD40 do any better?

I also have it with my front offside sensor.  I park up hill on the drive and always get a false beep after heavy rain. I'll have a go with the silicone spray at the weekend. Thanks vectra.

I don't remove anything

I just blow into them until they stop beeping. Then a quick squirt of silicon spray into them.

Works for me. :)

Mine often do it whenever heavy rainfall  / left in garage overnight after washing car with hose . Will try silicon spray
