Audience Stereo Upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi Expatman' date='

Just checked this out - for Radio "Stream" , "Audience" & "Melody" there is both aux input and telephone input.

Multipin Connector C

Pin 5 Input signal audio -ve

Pin 11 Input signalaudio +ve

Pin 6 Input signal tel -ve

Pin 12 Input signal tel +ve

Hope that clears it up. :)

Hi,

Totally overlooked it was only one channel, so yes it would be :o

Somone with a stream or audience needs to remove the unit from the dash and check the wiring schematic that is on the top of it - I may have some connexion info missing - I was sent an image of this, but I suspect that some of the connections are not shown! (Sorry!)

Cheers,

Local dealer was going to take out the audience unit for me to have a look but he got stuck. He had not taken one out b4 and the instructions he had from Skoda was less than helpful.

I have an iriver as well and the audience player plays mp3s on CD but its no substitute for my 40Gb player.

The audience player mp3 navigation absolutely sucks - its almost impossible to find the song you are looking for.

I went for the audience so that at least I'd be able to play mp3 but it looks like Id have been better with the stream, an i-pod and and a dennison ice link (and Id probably still have change out of what the upgrade + speaker pack cost - grr)

So what do you think,

is it that hard to replace the stereos. should i sell my iriver and get a ipod and dennison link. choices choices

Jon

I decided against an upgraded stereo and bought a Sony HD5 instead  . V Nice it is too, plus I can use it in the gym, at home, Holdiay. Much better than the extra

Does anyone know how to remove the stereo in an octyII, also if i swap the stereo on another car what needs doing, codes etc

The audience and stream systems are electronically encoded to ensure that they can only be used in one specific car.

They can be recoded, my dealer had to when he swapped my radio out for a new one. Don't know if it is possible without access to the Skoda dealers private web site though.

Quality of audio? No. Quality of perception by the human ear? Yes.

If it was 12.1 surround you were talking about then I would totally agree. However, not having reached that level of technology yet, and without having a surround sound decoder in the car (yet alone the manufacture of CDs with 5.1 surround sound encoding), it remains to be conventional stereo. Two tracks, left and right.

If you're gonna make an investment for such an upgrade, I would like to recommend you check in with a professional car audio specialist and ask if there are any 5.1 surround decoders available for vehicles, which would include DVD players. You can therefore, have a proper 5.1 surround system in your car.

Greetings to all

I will try to help a little in this question. First of all as you said, the stereo sound has only two channels, not 5.1 neither 12. But 12 speakers is not the same thing as 12 channels.

Does this mean that 12 speakers are useless?

R: Wrong

The number of speakers aims to cover larger amplitude of frequencies, so this really improves sound quality.

Let me put this way: in my desktop I have a 5.1 system, but how many
