Crank case gasses!

Featured Replies

I've had my elephant mod for a while now but recently I've noticed a lot of gasses coming from the pipe, so much so that there is smoke rising from the car on idle!

It also smells a bit like burnt diesel.

There is a small chance I might have a hole in my exhaust because it does sound blowy at times however I've lifted the hose up while running and there is a lot of smoke puffing out of it.

Any ideas what is normal guys?

I seem to get some vapour too at idle with the elephant mod, it's point down towards the ground too near the subframe wondering if it's normally too?

Sounds normal mine does it too and I'm sure others have said there's smokes alot

Mine smokes a lot as well. More noticable in certain temperatures.

Mines been smoking quite badly recently too.

interesting..seems a lot more common than I thought! Makes me wonder if all that stuff coming out could potentially increase fuel economy when plugged back into the intake :s

Its mainly condensation. My catch can tends to fill with water with a little bit of oil or an oily emulsion. Seems to be worse when the weather is colder.

Maybe I need a catch can!

The "vapour" has always been there - it's just before the elephant mod you never saw it !! and therefore no one knows what a normal amount looks like    I suspect the majority part will be condensation and in any event you will notice it more as the outside temp drops pretty much like you can see your breath on a cold day.
