A bit more of the build coming through now :)

Was giving the car a bit of TLC. You don't realise how dirty the exhaust gets  :giggle:

I don't think the pollen filter has been changed in the lifetime of the car

Another funky mod i have been wanting for a while now. This is from an Octavia estate i found breaking on ebay..... turned out to be my old next door neighbor. Its a small world :)

For the next mod Harvey (my dog) decided i needed a supervisor :)

I decided a colour change for the brake calipers was in order earlier this year.

Next on my list was the single mass flywheel and clutch conversion. Since the remap and us towing the caravan it had taken its toll on the old clutch so what better time to convert!  :giggle:

A quick snap of the "2 min job" in progress. Me supervising for a change...

A couple of little bits and bobs now as I am nearly up to the last few weeks and can start adding more detail to my posts :)

A custom made sticker to try and entice people to race. I get that many round here I thought i'd get this to add salt into their wounds  :giggle:

The day before our holiday she was given a full valet, only to get covered in sand but hey ho.

20130720_093228_zpse6dcc148.jpg

Don't remember why i took this. I only drive to this stretch of road when testing.... Hmmm

Oh how i miss going on holiday! Here she is all hooked up and ready for the 370 mile trip to cornwall at 5am :)

Here's a random shot at my local golf club. Had to park it like that... Get some funny looks of the other players  :giggle:

Something i try not to do very often is send my wife to get jobs done at a garage as they tend to take the p**s with her. Here's a perfect example!!

Sent the car for the tracking done and it came out like this!!!!

20130821_170713_zps7017824a.jpg

Apparently its down to my coilovers, worn bushes ect...... They tried feeding her a load of **** but she isn't daft and give them both barrels. All they kept saying is the wheels are straight and i have to remove the steering wheel and straighten it myself!! Anyway she came away with it like this and they offered to do it again after i had phoned up but i was worried they would purposely knock it out so i took the wheel of and did it myself in the end. The wheels are pretty straight so didn't take the risk. It's safe to say i wont be using them again!!! I tracked the car up better myself after fitting the quick TT rack. It just annoys me when muppets are let lose with my car, this is why all the work is done by ME :)

Sorry about the rant people... Back to the build

I believe we have nearly caught up to last week now. Took a while and considering i wasn't planning on doing a thread i took plenty of progress pictures over the last year! :)

So last weekend i decided to do some cheap but effective tinkering with the lights. (There coming back off again soon to paint more of the inside black)

The plan is to do the indicators and re do the lights again too.

Fitted the short shift at the weekend :)

20130824_163236_zps76837c8b.jpg

Thats it for tonight. Still some more to come soon  :giggle:

Bit more of the thread people :)

Another picture of Harvey supervising me valeting both cars

20130826_140632_zps0543a4f2.jpg

Rightio then here is my first walk through for adding the vRS sticker to the clocks :)

First thing is to remove the press studs under the clocks by pulling down on them. They come out quite easily.

20130831_080706_zps2508c516.jpg

After that remove the outer trim. There are 2 torx screws at the top, t25 i think and 2 clips at the back which are quite difficult to get to.

20130831_080256_zps6bf35c82.jpg

Sorry about the quality of that picture.

After that there are a few clips at the side before removing the bottom ones.

20130831_080228_zps16479ca3.jpg

Here are the clips that need to be prised down. I used a long screwdriver.

20130831_080110_zpsf49fb578.jpg

After the trim is removed then its a simple case of removing the plastic cover over the speedo with the clips on the sides and top.

20130831_080149_zps40fdaa69.jpg

Once removed you will carefully need to move the needle on the rev counter up to fit the sticker on.

20130831_075849_zpsa5b60a3c.jpg

Just remember to move the needle back down when completed... i didn't but luckily when i started the car it reset itself  :whew:

Now just reverse all of the above to rebuild and here it is completed...... before i reset the rev counter lol

20130831_080641_zps0f4badb7.jpg

Hope this help :)

More shineys arrived! :)

20130831_154512_zps9664d365.jpg

Next thing on the agenda was changing my braided fuel lines..... again!

I measured my old fuel lines while still on the car then made my new ones up in the house while having my tea  :giggle:

I clamped the hose on one side and wrapped the side i was cutting off in insulation tape so it didn't fray (the tape was on when i took the picture but was tight up to the clamp)

20130831_180729_zpsc4a81040.jpg

When the hose was cut to size i loosened off the clip so i could get the end finisher on with ease :)

I put these in some warm water and stretched them over my 1/2" extension.

20130831_181602_zps04b488b8.jpg

One completed looks like this! :)

20130831_180415_zps90856476.jpg

Here is the first one on the car. I changed one at time so i didn't mix them up. (done it before and wondered why she wouldn't start)  :giggle:

20130902_170122_zps589da4f5.jpg

I routed the coolant hose under the manifold.

20130902_171855_zps41d4c9b2.jpg

All plumbed in now.

20130902_171903_zps5cb59889.jpg

20130902_171859_zps3134cf56.jpg

Now with the addition of clamps to hold them in place.... sort of lol

20130902_172445_zps8485a74f.jpg

Final shot of the bay. Notice i have routed the hose from the carbon canister under the boost pipe (like gee)  :giggle:

20130902_173529_zps3ddc2fb7.jpg

Still needs improvement

  • Author

I had delivery of both genuine upper and lower strut braces from an Audi S3

Decided Silver was a little boring so took my time and sprayed it kawazaki green like other bits of my bay  :giggle:

20130906_172714_zpse8c5cec2.jpg

It will be a while before it gets fitted as the car is being stripped at the end of sept for the Hybrid

Next on my list of jobs was to re hose my catch can as some of the cheap pipes had split

Removal of old pipes.

20130907_093317_zpsadad61d3.jpg

Emptied can and gave it a quick clean

20130907_100945_zpsd2dba250.jpg

First pipe to be replaced :)

20130907_100955_zpse5a5b527.jpg

Plumbed into the rocker cover.

20130907_101235_zps385716b4.jpg

Into the catch can.

20130907_102649_zps4d416922.jpg

Rear pipe to the catch can.

20130907_103615_zpsab21950b.jpg

20130907_104010_zps45e69a46.jpg

All finished now. Looking miles better with proper silicone hoses.

20130907_104001_zps77d6477e.jpg

Here she is at my brother in laws garage ready for brakes and clutch bleeding.

Not much clearance here :giggle:

20130907_090108_zps38159491.jpg

And breathe.......... Thats all for now folks. We have offically caught up to the current day. Let me know what you all think :)

whats your plans for a new fmic!?

  • Author

Don't have any mate. Was told mine is ok by JBS in Chesterfield.

you cant keep the first 2 tiny pipes on a hybrid!! that little cooler isint the best anyway was ok but always felt warm still.

  • Author

Ok mate thanks for that! :-) ill get some made up from my mate who did my exhaust. The 2 coming off the turbo?

Progressing well, good work.

The tip with the turbo kit is scrap throw in bin big pile of rubbish oem tip flows better you need to run sfs tip

Who made hybrid ?? Looks urm standard ish

That fuel pump won't fit as its from a Quattro

You will need to change intercooler core and pipes to 2.5 inch

The big bulge on the Ko3S is a silencer - It poss its not been removed but still hybrid.

Very nice so far mate! love the work

BTW what tyres have you got? are they 225/40;s ?

It is a hybrid mate. Got all the internals from an astra vxr. Work done by "turbo technics"

Tyres are 215/40/17 mate continental 2's I think

Think im selling the hybrid kit now anyways. Its too close the birth of our first baby in 4 weeks time. Will be up for sale shortly.

If you decide to sell the hybrid pm me some details of it :)
