New VRS Alloys

Featured Replies

Hi, I've been gone from this forum a long time as I haven't had a skoda for a few years. I've previously owned a 2002 Mk1 and a 2006 Mk2, and I've had my eye on the New Mk3 VRS for a while, and now that I see they're offering 0% finance on it as well, I've really set my sights on one (a Diesel VRS estate).

I was at Goodwood when they launched it and the car there had the same wheels as the white car on this page http://www.autotrader.co.uk/articles/2013/07/cars/skoda/octavia/prices-and-specifications-for-new-skoda-octavia-vrs-revealed, but the skoda website and brochure only seems to show the wheels which are shown on the blue car. Am I being crazy or are they totally different? The ones on the white model really seem to give it a BMW/Merc like quality somehow.

The car is £24,000 and I don't want any extras except possibly the Keyless thing (I currently have a Laguna which has keyless). I have never bought a brand new car before - any idea how much I should aim to get off this price? Presumably as it's just launched there won't be any amazing reductions?

Cheers

The xtreme 19" alloys are a £2000 dealer fit option

The 19" xtreme are £203 each from bickerton skoda plus £158 for continental tyres from camskill which is what I'm doing roughly £1500

That's a better price :)

haha ok thanks in that case I've gone right off them! Will keep the cash I think.

I just didn't see them as an option in the brochure.  Plus the standard ones look quite good anyway.

It is a lot of money i agree but when car is sold ill tale them off and get some dosh back with me being able to keep stock 18" wheels, so i see it as if you like an investments that will make my car look miles better and ill lose a bit of money haha

I think it transforms car

Those extra large wheels will also transform the ride too.

They will also transform a nicely loaded bank account into a nearly empty bank account, especially if you damage either a wheel or tyre.

I've been drooling over some 20inch beasts today for my vrs III - i'll keep dreaming lol

The ride doesn't bother me at all, rather have a nice looking car thats slightly more uncomfortable but looks nicer and different to everyone elses.

If you can afford £1500 for the wheels alone I'm sure £350 to replace a wheel and tyre is not out of the way and is probably not much differently priced to the stock 18 inch.

Would 20 inch fit on the vrs?

I know someone who had 20" wheels on the O2 VRS. I guess they'll fit on the new one too. The rubber did seem like just a thin strip of paint on the rims though...

Was the ride horrendous in terms of zero comfort?

F you want comfort buy an se or elegance a sporty...ish car cant expect the vrs to be overly comfortable anyway

LOL ok I'll rephrase did it change the ride and handling much?

What comfort?! :giggle:

Regarding ride and handling, he couldn't tell, as he was going far too slowly as to not damage the rims, lol.

Bahahhahaahaaaaa ok perhaps I should rethink then. Driving like a snail is not my thing!

Currently considering changing my mkII and a big selling point for the mkIII was the wheels marketed by skoda throughout the launch. I can't believe they are a £2000 bloody option! Has kinda put me off now. I added the spec I would like and it's over 24k so now I might wait to see if they launch anymore deals to make it sweeter

Picking mine up tomorrow :D £800 though, just ordering tyres now at another £618. Not cheap but in my opinion worth it.

Wow, that looks great!

Remember guys- that's a computer enhanced image. It won't look like that in real life.

Sorry. James

Is this better, real life:
