changing head unit in 05 vrs

hi guys, so who has changed the head unit in their vrs -

how do you get the old one out? do you need one of those facia adaptors and a harness adaptor?

i think if we all done that then there would be no new threads...

I used bits of credit card cut up to put in the holes if you not got the tools to remove it not the best but what I had and I fitted a double din did buy a fascia but didn't use it just the trim from skoda (about £5) that clips in above the after market unit

I just asked my friendly local Skoda dealer to take the original stereo out.  You can get a trim panel from the dealer for a couple of quid - our local dealer carries them in stock because they're quite popular.  The Alpine I fitted in my last Fabia didn't need any wiring adapters, but the Kenwood I've fitted in my current vRS needed an aerial amplifer

Haven't been any truly new threads in quite a while, apart from the odd seat retrofit. Mostly, forum content is cliched rufage. :)

You want the kenwood keys they get the old one straight out, new stereo came with the right cable adapter already just need the trim that fills the gap above the new one direct from skoda or on ebay, that's if your fitting single din of course
