Why is this Yeti forum so popular?

Featured Replies

So I'm musing about possibly getting a Q3 as a Yeti replacement. (The FL seems to be primarily cosmetic and not offering any worthwhile improvement in engine/gearbox choices, refinement or ride (even a 16" option would do), but I'll not make a final decision until the FL spec is clearer. Yeti FL would definitely be cheaper!)

Then the obvious question: what do current Q3 owners praise or complain about? Obvious answer is to find a UK/Q3 forum and have a browse. Well, I found a (UK) Q3 owners club forum, but nothing else of note after some 20 minutes of Googling. The one forum I did find was alive, but attracting traffic of just 2-3 posts a day, if that. Maybe I needed to look harder or more thoughtfully?

I'm curious: why is the Briskoda Yeti forum apparently so much more popular than the Q3? Is it because Briskoda have simply done a much better job of creating a lively forum? I would have guessed that the total numbers of Q3 and Yeti owners wasn't wildly different, but maybe I'm wrong? Is it some difference in personality type between the groups - Q3 owners being more aloof from the web or Yeti owners being much more likely to chat/praise/moan in public?

In fact, it ends up being a plus point for the Yeti that this forum exists. (But perhaps I missed finding the most popular Q3 forum?)

My wife has just bought a new Mazda 2 and I too, looked for a forum, expecting something similar to this one.  I found a couple that were US based and with few postings.  Nothing to compare to Briskoda.  Is it Briskoda or the Yeti owners that make this forum so active?  It could be that it is the car that is special.

Subscribed.

As a fairly recent newcomer to Briskoda,,I have to say that it is a very good Owners Forum. I was for years and still am a forum member on Toyota Owners Club ( Rav4 Thread), but it does not come any where when compared to the Yeti section on Briskoda. To start with the actual layout of the Forum is second to none, easy to use and layout is superb. The general membership do seem to "know their stuff" as regards the input, and on the whole seem a Decent bunch of people.

I might also add that although there are two Yeti Owners Forums ( UK based) on the Net, but I know which one I would rather contribute too.Just as footnote to the Audi Q3 forums, there might not be a dedicated one but it might be a sub-section on a Audi Owners Site Forum?

It's not peculiar to the yeti forum the whole of briskoda.net is excellent and much better than most of the other similar sites I've seen.

So not just the Yeti forum, to those of you who have never ventured outside the Yeti section, I can assure you it is safe to do so, there is a whole forum of friendly people and remember, "a stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet"

Very true, they dont have pitchforks or anything

Perhaps Q3 owners would rather let a dealership sort regardless of cost?

I would agree it is a very friendly and helpful forum. It was hugely informative for me before I bought my Yeti and probably did as much to convince me it would be the right purchase as much as dealers and test drives. Some of the more informed members comments helped me to make my engine/trim decisions and also what options would be useful to me and what would be "bling". And even what some of the options meant. And of course it was Briskoda that taught me how to get 16" wheels on an Elegance, which was my preference. More recently the forum threads on winter tyres have pretty much convinced me this would be a useful home for some cash, something I've never considered before; and worryingly complaints to my former marque's dealer about my car being lethal in snow never once elicited a suggestion of winter tyres perhaps being the solution, so you live and learn.

In fact I was so impressed with all the useful advice I signed up for 2 years of Freedom membership even before I had a car.

But back to your original point, maybe the Yeti is a bit quirky but practical and not to be taken too seriously and it attracts like minded owners?

Briskoda is probably one of the best forums out there, frequented by non Skoda or ex Skoda owners like me as well as Skoda owners.

The Yeti section is a TINY subset of the forum.

You want answers to anything and somebody on Briskoda is almost bound to know.

It has a large active membership with local meets all over the country along with events like the excellent National Mega meet in July.

Much more active than the other forums I frequent- Land Rover UK and Landy Zone.
