Has anyone enabled or know how to enable the tail lights to come on with the DRLs? 

I think you can do it with VAGCOM (or modern equivilent)

If they coded that option the side light position on the light switch would be obsolete?

its another country option, where DRL's are not allowed without tailights......

Yes, as Sharkrider said - I think there was a thread where someone did it - VAGCOM commands or options or something - on here or on the up! forum (suppose the codes are similar?). Andy.

Not quite true as side lights are 5w not 21w. Under certain circumstances such as unlit roads side lights are required for parked cars. I think 21w is illegal as a sidelight in the UK.
