Mk2 alloys on the mk3

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if the mk2 vrs alloys will fit the mk3 vrs? Ive got a set of winters and am hoping i will be able to just swop them over when the new motor arrives.

Depends on the size of them obviously, the Mk3 has 17" disks on the front so your wheels would have to be 18" to clear them I'd imagine.

No it doesn't.

17" discs? Because race car?

No it doesn't.

You obviously know the answer, why didn't you share it? That's why we're all here.

By the way, I don't know the answer, but I do know there's been at least one thread where the size of MK3 vRS has been discussed so I can understand why soapywetdish thought 17".

Doesn't what ? have 17" front disks or need 18" wheels.

You have to be more specific to be helpful, otherwise you are just being obtuse.

The MK3 vRS, according to ALL the Skoda literature I have read does indeed have 17" front disks, though apparently Skoda literature has been known to be wrong.

As for my comment about 18" wheels, you should be able to tell by the wording that it was a guess.

I'm no mechanic, I've never had a car with 17" wheels let alone 17" disks, so I assumed a wheel the same size as the disk would interfere.

I guess wheel and disk diameters are measured slightly differently.

I'm more than happy to be corrected, but corrections should be helpful, both to myself and anyone else reading this forum.

I think it was established on another thread that the vRS doesn't have 17" disks, but does require17" wheels as a minimum to fit over the calipers.

Thanks, very helpful and informative, i stand corrected.

Er I did, it's doesnt have 17" discs so it doesn't need 18's to clear them.....

Both.

Er I did,

Now you're just being facetious. You purposefully held back useful info for whatever game is going in your head. Fortunately others aren't playing the same game.

Er, ok.

Lets sort this out once and for all..........................................

It would be very tight with 17's i reckon so think you would need 18's.

Hope this helps.

Original Octavia VRS III Winter Wheels thread is here - it confirms both winter wheel and spare wheel sizes:

17" alloys will fit according to the Skoda dealer here in Germany - he has contacted Skoda to confirm.  According to the 'Complete Winter Tyre' options available (dated 01.07.13) only 18" alloys could be fitted, but this was amended on the newer information sheet (dated 26.08.13). Here you can either order:

Silver 'Crystal' (6,0J x 17" ET 48) with 205/50/17 Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme XL for €328,00 per wheel (Pt. No. 206507VWXVRCY1)

Matt Black 'Turini' (7,5J x 18" ET 51) with 225/40/18 Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme XL for €376,00 per wheel (Pt. No. 226408WWXVRTU3)

Other colours / tyres are available but gives you a comparison.  Skoda are not recommending fitment of steel wheels to the VRS - this may have been lost in translation somewhere, but I got the impression that there are not any OEM 18" steel wheel options - I stand by to be shamed by those who know better.

As stated in some of the other threads, not too much difference buying the optional 19" wheels and using the factory 18"s for the winter tyres - however, SWMBO is having none of it :(

In answer to OP 16" winter wheels will not fit.

it does say that in literature, and having seen them in the flesh, and drove the car, the discs are definately bigger (IMO, dont quote me), but just not 17 inch, lol
