Stiff gear shifter in neutral and getting into reverse

Featured Replies

Hiya,

The gear shifter of my skoda fabia has become extremely stiff in neutral (over the space of a week or two). Having read through other posts on this topic, I figured it was probably one of the cables in need of oil or something going on with the selector linkage.

However, over the last couple of days it has become really difficult to get into reverse (all other gears are fine), which makes me wonder if there isn't more to it.

My intention is to sell the car once i've sorted this out, so a big bill isn't an option! Please till me it isn't something serious.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

Tom

This may be a daft thought but what is the gearbox oil level like. I've had a couple of cars where the oil level  and also the type of oil had to be right.
