VCDS Soot Reading Help

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have changed the DPF pressure sensor in my Octy.  I have used VCDS to take some readings, but I cannot find a soot percentage.  I have managed to find the readings below...  Can anyone tell me what the following means?

Group 108 Diesel Particulate Filter

48ml Particulate  Filter Oil Ash Volume

9.9 Particle Filter Carbon Mass (spec.)

0.0 Particle Filter Carbon Mass (act.)

How do I get a DPF soot reading?  I've searched endlessly and can't find any info, even on other VAG forums!

Cheers,

Joe.

CR or PD?

Out of curiousity I got a scan done on my 38k PD Scout which gave the following figures at startup (i.e. cold engine):

Load coefficient 14.6%

Carbon Mass 18.0

Temp after particle filter 72 degC (rising)

Soot index 38.0 (dropping)

Anything to worry about?

Below is an extract from my car:

                Address 01: Engine (03G 906 021 MD)

22:18:22 Group 068: Particle Filter (Exhaust Gas II)
22.9 % Particle Filter Load Coefficient
  31.0 Particle Filter Carbon Mass
0.0 % Carbon Mass Learned Value

This is from measuring block 068.

The first number is the amount of soot as %

The second is the ash content in grams (maximum is 60g).

Someone posted a graph on here which shows the points at which passive regen, active regen and forced regen should occur and the point at which it is too full - Look here.

Joeninho, I recently asked the exact same question here but alas the best answer I got wss to ask ross tech support.

But here is the results from the scan that I done so you have something to compare with. I haven't changed the dpf or any sensors. 16:30:55 Group 108: Diesel Particle Filter

39 ml Particle Filter Oil Ash Volume

9.6 Particle Filter Carbon Mass (spec.)

9.0 Particle Filter Carbon Mass (act.)
