Air filters!

Featured Replies

had my car serviced today, and while i was there, i asked them if they do any after market filters.

they said they will only use green filters. and charge

where do you get the oil from for the green filter and what kind is it. i'd proberbly end up putting extra virgin olive oil on it.

I got the kit from a group buy on here, which I think was from Demon Tweeks, but most Green stockists should have it. Halfords may even sell it, but I don't know what they charge!

cotton gauze filters very well but clogs up quicker than foam. pieprcross is your best bet (impartial :o )

I've had K&N filters on every car I have ever owned, from open cones on SU equipped minis, thru replacement panels on a Saxo, to a 57i on my Rover 420 GSI (the GSI is all important) and have always found them to be good.

Biggest problem in the UK is not generally dust, but flies and airborne oily 'mist' off engine (especially on Minis) - I tended to wash them every 6 - 8K miles.

57i made quite a difference on my 420, not only making engine cleaner revving and giving it a Subaru (almost) like growl, but improved fuel economy a little (I do 500 miles a week so I could easily quantify this).

I am considering fitting a induction kit to my (still in warranty) Octavia VRS, so if anyone has any feedback on the various option, K&N, Green, Carbonia etc, I would appreciate your advice.
