Skoda Fabia SE 07 back home

Featured Replies

Got my SE back today, sparkling new except for the alloys and  spoiler which ruins the effect

(After driving for 1.5 million miles accident free over 30 years, I took it I was safe,  so advised £350 Voluntary excess and £100 compulsory excess,  unfortunately my SE was vandalised, an at fault claim)

I asked if they could do the other three wheels and spoiler but they wanted an additional £400 which I could not afford on top of the £450 excess, consequently it looks like a dogs dinner

I have bought some clear lacquer to do the spoiler, though it states to be done inside at room temperature, so I am going to try and build a small cage and do it outside

The wheels I do not have a clue other than to try and sand them down spray with silver then lacquer

I do not know what silver I need to use ? They told me it was a problem as the wheels have a PLASTIC coat ?

National aka Jimbo

i seen your origional post, i think its absalutely appauling what happend to your car! glad to hear that youve got it back, atleast in better nick than it was left in!

hope you get everything back to how it was, and i hope the police do thier jobs and catch the idiots that done this!

 cheers mike.

Are you local to me? I know a place that would powder coat your wheels for £100. Shropshire area.

Glad to hear it's back, sorry to hear everything is not 100% perfect. Wish you all the best getting it fixed up :)

Glad it's back National.

I like others was appalled to read about what happened.

I honestly think it's easily do able to get all 4 wheels refurbed

(so they all look the same) for no more than about £160 tops.

(£40per wheel is a reasonable price and what I paid for my refurb on my Fabia. )

Plus a few quid for taking the tyres off and replacing them and rebalancing.

I dunno what that guy is on about when he says plastic coating. If the wheels are as

they left the factory then I can assure you they are just painted and lacquered, nothing

more. It all comes off when they are blasted for refurb in any case.

As for the spoiler, I'd seriously consider wrapping it, that can be done professionally

for a maximum of £80. Spray painting isn't as easy as it looks and unless you are

a pro you'll always be able to tell the difference. Even if that's only when up close,

you will often see it that way and as you love your car so much it will always bug

you that that bit isn't quite 100%. Also by the time you've bought paint and lacquer

you'll have spent half of that anyway.
