Bolero Phone Pairing Advice

Featured Replies

I recently changed my 2008 vRS TDi (PD) hatch for a 2010 vRS TSi DSG estate.  I was happy with the old car, but the recent acquisition of a dog and having elderly, disabled parents to sometimes ferry about, forced the change

I hadn't realised how agricultural the diesel was until I'd taken the TSi for a test drive!!  Shame about the fuel economy, though.  I was getting around 50 to the gallon from the diesel.

The new (to me) car has a Bolero radio.  However, when I tried to pair my HTC One X with it, the message on the maxidot said that the phone was not compatible.  I have searched the Forum and found a thread where one of the replies suggested pairing the phone with the radio rather than the radio with the phone.  The question is, how do I make the radio visible to the phone?

If that doesn't work, would a firmware upgrade on the Bolero solve the problem, or do I need a new phone?

Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.

Here's what I have gleaned from the plethora of recent posts on this topic:

Your bluetooth module may need replacing with a newer one. Some modules only support RSAP connection which your HTC may not support.

The module may be located under either the driver or passenger seat or behind the Bolero. If it is easily accessible, have a look at the part number and post it here.

One newer module available is the 7P6035730K. This will support your phone. However..

Your Bolero is likely to be the early 'F' / Blaupunkt version as this was updated for an 'M' / Delphi version in 2011. The earlier Bolero has been known to have some problems synchronising the phonebook from the phone but some users do not let this bother them since the recent call lists are still available via both the Bolero and Maxi Dot.

If you are prepared to pay a little extra you can buy a 'premium' module which does not have the phonebook sync problem.

I'm no expert - but plenty on this forum are. Have a search on 'Bluetooth bolero premium' and browse through the threads.

Hope that helps!

Obvious question, but are you sure the BT module is fitted? The Bolero doesn't come with Bluetooth functionality as standard. You need the Skoda Bluetooth module.

You can check whether you have this as it's located underneath the driver's seat - you'll see it mounted to a floor bracket when you pull the seat right back.

Otherwise it's as above, you can purchase the module and retrofit it.

Would the maxi dot attempt to connect to the phone even if the BT module was not installed? Seems the OP's maxidot is attemption to pair the phone. I would to have expected it to have any BT options if there were no module at all.

True; if Maxidot has the option there, then the module is there. As the coding wouldn't work otherwise.

Would need a bit more info on the module and revision, as it's a bit strange - not the usual issue I'd expect to encounter, and not with an Android handset either.

Some early modules only had RSAP but not, say, A2DP. Don't know a lot about Android or if the OS support RSAP but the key will be in finding out the BT product number. Also Android version may be useful too. Once it is established that the phone and module are actually compatible then further problem solving can be explored.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions.  For some reason, I can't respond to the Forum from my iMac, so have had to wait until I can access a Windows PC.

I've checked under the driver's seat and there is a box under a platic cover, but I have no idea if it is a Bluetooth module, or some other gizmo - bit of a technical numbskull, I'm afraid.  I've never seen a Bluetooth module before, so have no idea what it should look like!!

The box under the driver;s seat it about 4 - 5 inches square and about threequartes of a inch thick.  I will try to post a picture tomorrow.

Once again, thanks for your help.

Sounds promising that you have one - that's the only item that would be located there. But thinking that the revision of the module fitted is what's causing the problem, with your particular phone.

Looks like this:

Will be located here - see corner of the floor mat for a reference point!

As above might be the BT module

If the module is rsap only then there is an app available on google play to install rsap compatibility to your HTC if the phone is not rsap enabled, here is a link to the website concerned, the download link is a little way down the page
