Bored of the Fiesta, looking for a VRS SE :(

Featured Replies

Getting a bit bored of my 09 Fiesta ZS and looking at getting a Fabia VRS. Problem is that it's the VRS Special Edition (07) that really appeals to me, can't find any good value examples that are within about 100 miles of me :( (Milton Keynes, truth be told I'd travel further for the right car)

I don't suppose anyone has seen any for sale in smaller independent garages that don't advertise on Auto Trader, Pistonheads etc?

On another note, has anyone else moved on from their Fiesta ZS (1.6 diesel) to a VRS, was it the right choice in hindsight? :)

My sister has the zetec-s diesel... and fair enough it gets good gas mileage...but lets be honest its gutless at yeast the fabia has a bit of get-up and go...especially after a cheeky remap

That pretty much sums up my feelings, the MPG is great but that's pretty much it - the lack of power is frustrating, I had a test drive in a 06 VRS last weekend which just about confirmed my intentions :D Just need to find the right car now!

Can't help with locating an SE, but I would say going from the Zetec S to a vRS you're gonna love the difference! IIRC the Zetec S is 90bhp? and the vRS is ~130 and that 40 bhp will make the world of difference ;) Can't remember how the torque compares but I'm sure it's way off what I have as standard.

The insurance will be a little more for the Fabia, but not a massive amount. Is the tax £30 for the Ford? £170 odd for the Fabia. My missus wanted a vRS after driving mine, but I wont let her so she wants a Zetec S instead so spent a bit of time compairing the two :D

Yeah the insurance is a little more, and taking the hit on the road tax (currently just £20!) is something I'm all for if it makes my 80~ mile commute to work a little more fun :P

I think the increase in cost vs the increase in the fun factor is big enough to warrant getting rid of the ford IMO, although the easiest solution would be to get your Zetec mapped. Fairly sure it will end up just shy of the 130bhp mark and you will get to keep your £20 a year tax perk :P

Give Shark Performance a bell as I know they can map a Ford, not sure about the other sponsors tbh but worth a look.

That was something that I considered, however I could get the vRS and eventually get that mapped, taking it far beyond what the ZS would be able to reach :D

true, but if that's your thinking you're screwed

I had to go from the west mids to Norwich for mine

6 hours round trip - twice

worth it tho

Yeah I haven't ruled out a long trip, for the right car I'd definitely consider it!

My mate loves my VRS after being in his mk7 TDCI, he can't believe the difference between them :)

100 miles is nothing, always be willing to travel for the right car! :D

That was all I was going to do to my Fabia. Then I joined briskoda.

Best choice you'll ever look back on and realise "I did good there."

you won't be disappointed at all, mine is standard and the torque is awesome, leaves many a car at the traffic lights, i haven't bought it for that mine is because it's a car that can deliver 500 miles on 50 litres and £130 tax,  so happy days and parts are easy to get hold of from TPS all genuine parts and easy to service.   :wait:

My mates just traded his SE in! There are plenty more about though, I'll keep my eyes peeled. Good to see another guy from MK!

The fiesta st my mate had was a great car it handles better than a standard mk1 vrs and was slightly quick, though add a rarb coilovers and remap and it's actually a little fast in a straight line and not massively behind handling.
