Hi -

Just had the car serviced, 10k service, not annual.

Not happy with the price 180.02 to be exact, inc VAT and all that.

Questioned it twice but too late to change it and it was free courtesy car and so on so didnt persue it much.

Sent in the usual 'nice job and all that' feedback card.

Today I decided to put in the Briskoda.net/VRS tax disc holder, and generally check the car over.

I noticed the following:

* No dealer stamp in logbook even though it was in the place they put it

* Oil level appears to be in the middle between min/max, rather than at max. I got charged for 5 liters of PD oil at the extortion-pricing of 9.99 ex / liter. Now I fully accept the price, but shouldnt that bring it up to the full mark?

* Battery 'holder' - I got a Skoda Motorsport vRS decal thing which I decided to put on top of the cover of the battery holder. When I started to transfer it, I noticed one of the clips is completely snapped off. I am 110% sure this was fine before it went in, as I have a Green Filter sticker on the cover already and I would have noticed the movement.

* When I get charged for washer fluid I expect to get a full 'tank' full of the stuff, rather than what appears to be less than half-full. I have used the sprayer twice, possibly three times, since picking it up. This wouldnt have even got it down the 'neck' bit had it been properly filled.

What's the best way to get this resolved in a friendly way? The cover will vibrate and although it wont come off, it could let water in now.

Not a clue how much a new battery holder would be, but I have a feeling it ain't gonna be cheap, for labour alone.

The stamp is something they can just sort out, so although annoying for having to make time to go to the dealer, that's no biggy.

Advise please? Thanks :)

Well you first of all want to speak with the service manager.

Tell him what has happened.

If no joy speak with the Dealer Principle.

If no joy then on to Customer Care.

Yes the price you paid was ALOT.

The oil is pretty steep too.

It can help by saying that you are on Briskoda and will name and shame if you do not get a reduced service price for the next one or some refund.

Also get them to top up the oil.

If I remember correctly it only holds 4.5 litres.

Sarah

Take this in with you -

Correct Sarah, 4.5 litres max.

And 180 is was over the top. Ask what the labour time was, should be 0.7 hours. And aswell as your book being stamped you should also get a copy of the service sheet explaining what has been done, dealers now have to do this its covered in recent company audits.

A 'lube' service which your car would have had if its less than a year old is...

1. Oil and filter change

2. Visual inspection of brake pads

I will get the exact specifics for a lube if you like, but technically the washers arent topped up on a lube service (although I usually do it as a matter of course and curtoesy sp?)

I'm sure they'll sort something out, otherwise it will not be serviced there any longer ;)

Thanks for the feedback so far, will keep y'all posted :)

Take this in with you -

That's about what my 10k service cost me too.

It is definitely a rip-off in my book. Especially as I mentioned specifically it was NOT the annual service. Will be discussing the matter with the service manager monday and see what can be sorted. Not currently very happy, that's for sure :(

When I went in for my 10K service, they recommended that I have an annual service instead, to save me from having to have it back in 4 months later for the annual......anyway...back on point...they did my annual service on my Octy vRS for

Cant be bothered to scan it as the scanner is on a separate PC in the office ;)

The oil indicator is between the bits:

Is this correct or not? I thought it had to be at the bit where it kinks at the top, please could someone tell me if that's true?

On the screenwash - I have a feeling it was 2 liters as you can't even see the fluid level (it was empty when it went in, pretty much, as the light was on). As it's got the Xenons it's a 5 liter tank, should I expect to get charged more (and it be filled up properly), or is the policy to just slap in 2 liters for that price?

The lack of stamping the service book + damage to the battery holder needs sorting of course.

Left a message but didnt get a call back, will be chasing that up tomorrow morning now

Update - spoke with one of the service guys (normal service manager is on holiday).

Seems like the screen wash isnt topped up 'into the neck' anyway, well it is but only in the foamy way ;)

As expected the stamp was just an oversight, and I wasn't particularly worried about that either.

Service cost was correct - the hourly rate is pretty steep therefore, but it IS for the right number of hour(s). Rest of the bits didnt seem overpriced/different from anywhere else so that's cool.

Mentioned the battery box clip thing - dealer will need to see it but it will be replaced FOC. Didnt argue or anything (neither did I, I just asked the questions ;))

Suppose that although the labour rate is high, the rest is pretty much sorted now.

Now to find time to visit them, which is a lot more tricky.

Redeemed at any rate, although I will definitely have to keep an eye out for cheaper servicing ;)

Next service you get, phone the next local dealer and ask how much their labour charges are, tell them you think the price you just paid was excessive and can they beat it as you are looking for a new local servicing company. I bet if they have any sense, they'll give you a good rate, else they won't get you onto their books as a customer will they?

Yep - I'm actually considering AMD as they are LOADS cheaper already:

http://www.amdtechnik.com/products.variant.cfm?variantid=49 (bottom of the page).

There are a few Skoda dealers around the area, mainly Oxford, Reading, Newbury. Catch is that a lot of them are owned by the same people :)

It's a little annoying as they're very friendly and assuming things are resolved as they are likely to be (based on chat with them today), there isn't much other reason than price to change.

That said - if I do end up with FMIC & the Miltek exhaust in the near future (there's hoping ;) ) chances are I'd be better off going to AMD anyway due to their experience with modded vehicles.

It would seem to me that your excessive cost is here

Tnx for update - seems like a little trip further afield may be in order - for the price difference I can drive a good 400-odd miles I'd have said :(

I'd still be asking some questions about the service already recieved and I'd be lloking for some money back or a substantial discount on the next.

Contact a few nearby dealers and get quotes then tell your place if they don't sort it, and sort it quick you'll call the local newspaper in. You obviously aren't going to be the only one being ripped off.

@Sarah - it's likely I'll consider you guys too - mainly coz of the FMIC & Miltek GB that will be going through you guys ;)

I would definitely recommend shopping around. I know we are not talking the same vehicle, but I have a 1.9PD130 Superb, and for the 10k service we paid about

Based on pricing info it should have cost me about 100 quid, 120 at a push becoz of the loan car. As Mrs paid for half it didnt hurt me as much as it could have for a change ;)

Will definitely be shopping around
