GAP Insurers

Featured Replies

Anyone have any personal experience of any of the gap insurers?

Looking for recommendations for the new wheels.

I take it that the car is being bought on finance.

From which manufacturer?

Have you had any discussion yet with the supplying dealer to see what their deal/offer on GAP Insurance is going to be?

Yup, £400 was the dealer price (vw)

I think you might well get them to better/lower that price, that was their opening offer, not set in stone.

Sorry, OT,

but you are not taking the 'Paint Protection Offer' are you.

Best take the properly prepared for delivery car from the Dealership and get Detailing done your self & properly done. IMO

take a look on the 'Which' web site. They have some good info there on GAP insurance.

All seems very steep. Our cover ranges from £82.34 for 3 years' GAP cover on vehicles upto £15k value through to £238.04 for £75k vehicles.

also check what each one does and does not cover.

ALA and Frank pickles have an easy to read chart showing what theirs covers against others.

If I am reading things correctly then Frank Pickles is slightly better than ALA which seem to be the most popular,

Also he seems 15% cheaper than ALA.

Have not tried CKI above but may contact now.

Will drop a call in tomorrow

Any briskoda discount?

I did email CKI yesterday after posting but 24 hours later no reply.

I did get an email from ALA yesterday confirming that the frank pickles policy was as good/better than theirs so they price matched and reduced further 20%.

Deal done.

4 years. £23k , £153 premium

Apparently they have a price match system so get a quote from ALA and frank pickles.

Send frank pickles quote to ALA and get 20% less...

Don't tell everyone!

The price has been negotiated knowing that we work mainly with car clubs and forums. There's no extra discount I'm afraid.

Would like to add that it appears my email to Chris Knott had got lost and in response to my postings here I have had some fast and friendly communication by mail and a very pleasant phone call from Rebecca at their office to who'm I have spoken in the past.

Usual good service resumed thankyou

Unless you have a poor driving record and habitually write cars off or live somewhere where car theft is epademic it might be a better idea to do an IAM course if you haven't already done so. For the 1 off cost of £140 you get the training, your test and 12 months membership. They'll make you a safer driver, so you'll be less likely to have an accident in the first place and you can get discounts on your insurance too.

Good point but having blown my life savings on a mid life crisis car I couldn't afford to lose anything if some other idiot totals my car, or I have a seizure looking at pretty girls and crash etc.
