Changing original radio

Featured Replies

Hi

I have decided i want to change from the original radio, I would like to have a usb radio, Apart from stero is there anything else i need eg conversion cable for the wiring ?

How do i get the original radio out ?

Is there no other makes i can collect the original autochanger too ?

Thanks

I just fitted a double din to mine yesterday , head unit came with the correct plug adapter. Its standard ISO leads on the original so lots of head units fit ISO or most come with a adapter plug, If not they are easily bought for a few pounds

To get the original head unit out you should see 2 slots , you normally need the correct keys to slot them in and it just pulls out , but im sure something could be made to slot in there.

Unsure about the cd changer, but im sure someone will let you know soon =)

heres a picture of mine, give u some ideas  IMG_0122.jpg

As above, the easiest way to remove it is with the proper keys, but I think people have used a hacksaw blade.

I'm pretty sure you will have to loose the cd changer but if you're going for a head unit with usb/ipod connection you wont really miss it.

You will need a power injector for the radio if you plan to use it and make sure you test the stereo before fitting it into the dash as you may need to swap the red/yellow wires if you lose settings or stored radio stations when you turn the ignition off.

The only thing to watch is the permanent live sometimes need swopping with the switched live,I needed to do this when I fitted my alpine headunit, otherwise you'll lose the presets and your central locking won't work
