I have my suspicions, but looking for confirmation...

Car is a 2000 Audi A4, 1.8T APU. Also, found some small F.O.D in the cam area, looked like brass filings.

Sounds like your bottom end has gone (shell bearings or big end bearings), or the DMF maybe? Unlucky. Whats the mileage?

140k+ can quite remember the exact mileage. Won't be DMF as I changed that for an SM a long way back.

I suspected the same, think the shells on cylinder one have gone. Though in hindsight, it was kind of a good thing, as it drove me to a replacement car. The vRS
