Orange Oil Light (partially illuminated with lights on)

Featured Replies

No dramas with any of my actual lights, car had been kept in another night :( So far something along the lines of for dash faults the prescribed first port of call is a wiring check which has been done and nothing wrong there, pics etc been passed on to SUK to see if they are aware of anything similar happening others and awaiting a reply. Will update when I know more.

So is your dash still doing this for the dealer to see? Twice i went to auto electrician and twice it wasn't doing when I got there. Currently not done it atall all week... But I'm sure it will be back?

Mine started intermittently on Xmas day. Went of day after Boxing Day but been on since. The only thing that's changed is that the left hand ind dash light was staying on while driving day or night but dimly it flickered one night on and off quite a few times on way home from work and then went off. Not happened since like that. And stayed off,

Just got left hand ind on when ignition is cycled before starting car then goes out as batt light does but only comes on when driving now and using indicators right.. Or when low fuel or washer fluid lights are lit.

Nope mine all went out again 2 days before I brought it in, but when I booked it in I emailed pics and the videos of it doing it. Pics and vids have been sent on to SUK. I am glad I took them otherwise it would have left dealers in a position of having to understand what I was going on about and seeing nothing at all. At least this way they know there is definitely an issue and are not just throwing it back at me saying it's all fine.

No luck yet, 20 miles after getting it back having been restored to factory settings? It was back (orange one on own very dimly lit)....

Anyone else have any progress?

I bought a new battery at the weekend as I had my doubts about the condition of mine and following the advice of a couple of briskoda members but to no avail. Still dash light faults but it did cure my flickering driver side xenon on start up. And car starts better to.

I am now convinced that this is a component failure on the instrument cluster itself.

I hope skoda replace yours under warranty dude..

No such luck for me

Next suggestion after flashing car back to factory and wiping my remap then getting it back still not working, was to wait over 2 weeks to get it booked back in (due to availability of non road legal courtesy car) give it to a technician and allow him to commute to and from work in it for a few days to investigate it further plug computer in etc...... Not happening! My car, my fuel, how far, where is it being parked??? Do it in works time, a franchised main dealer can fore-fill their obligations to warranty work in their own time during the day, the position of the moon/sun has no bearing on it! My car isn't sitting doing nothing all day so someone else can use it to get to and from work at my expense! Where the outcome will be......... ????? Amount of fuel used in the 3 days it was in against the distance it covered was disappointing. I do not like anyone else driving my car(s) ever. It's a personal thing and there are many like me.

So on Tuesday I 'Webuyanycar'd' it. I no longer own a Skoda.

I wish you all luck in solving this stupid problem, it's not easy for dealers to pin point and I understand this and it's a time consuming slow process unless you magically strike gold early on with it. I just choose not to bother waiting, car is depreciating all the time and for over 1/3 of it's total mileage since leaving the factory it's been doing this. I live too far from a Skoda dealers to make use of the 5 year unlimited mileage extended warranty I paid for when ordering car so it's toast. Going to try some cheap motoring for a while and if I get bored could just buy the new vRS, but at moment I doubt it as the distance I live from civilisation etc.

Ive still got the dim lit orange oil light, and thats it. Nothing else, not since few weeks now. All i have done is taken all the rear lights out, re-seated all bulbs and replace. Im convinced its an earth issue, like i say, when i waggled wires in rear lights, when the indicator light was on it flickered... also, Skoda main dealer said it sounded like a earth issue.. mores to the point, if left indicator light on.. then first port of call!!

I can live with the dim lit orange oil light, doesnt bother me too much when its on.. if the indicator light comes back, may get it looked at, but these are mearly niggles for me. And coming into summer, dont need lights on, so wont do it! The car is otherwise mind blowing.. i love it to bits!

Did you not loose money on webuyanycar? Ive just had a play on there now... they offered me £3k less than i paid for it last month!  Not that ill be selling.

Has anyone tried swapping the light switch unit with one for another car?

Since it's all CAN BUS, it could be that things are a little nuts in a worn switch.

I know this is a really old thread, but does anyone know what the cause of the partially illuminated oil level and left indicator light issue is, potentially moisture, component failure/bad solder joint or light bleeding through from other LED source?
