Gearbox error

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Yesterday afternoon when I tried to start my car (Octavia III Hatch 1.6 TDI DSG Elegence, auto start&stop), it didn't start. Instead, it displayed a blinking glow plug system icon with a steady Automatic gearbox (yellow) icon and -for a short time- GEARBOX ERROR on maxi-dot screen. I immediately pressed to stop and waited for some time to start again. When I tried for the second time, the warnings were gone.

The service said, they think the problem was a software glitch and they have done a software update to the gearbox.

Another interesting thing the service rep. said is "when you are stuck on a traffic jam for over 30-40 minutes, you may see the blinking glow plug system icon or GEARBOX ERROR on maxi-dot screen. Then you should stop the car and wait for the gearbox to cool down.".

Did any of you see the GEARBOX ERROR on maxi-dot screen with or without the blinking glow plug system icon while you were starting the car or during a traffic jam? If so, did you show it to a service and what did the service told you?

Thanks,

Eren
