Hello all,

I'm sure someone has successfully separated the chrome outer from the black inner on a FL grille..... but for the love of god how!?

 

I tried and failed. Got mad. Put it back together before i broke something!

 

Anyway I heated the clips up so i didn't snap them and got them all undone. However it still wouldn't come apart. Is there glue or adhesive under the bits I've circled??

I did it when I plastidip coated mine and changed the badge to the silver one.  I can't recall it being that difficult - there certainly weren't any hidden clips.  I have a vague recollection that there may have been some glue or tape behind the chrome though.

If its the same as the pre-FL (which I'm sure it will be), push a small socket bit over the prongs to release them. Work your way around undoing them all. There'll be some tape/glue along the bottom edge which should easily peel off.

Brute force, 2 people, a pic, a screwdriver and lots of pinched fingers lol

It comes apart eventually but take your time and persist with it.
