avon tyres on VRS ?

Featured Replies

i need 2 front tyres now.  money is a bit tight at the moment but im not putting budget tyres on the VRS . Best quotes i got were 110 euro for nankang , which i dont want. next up is Avon at 135euro each , which is bout top budget wise unfortunately . has anyone any experience with Avons on there VRS ?

Got them on the back. ZV5 I think. They seem ok but only done about 1000 miles and not given it much stick

Avons are good for grip and depending on how you drive, is how long they will last.

I had Avon ZZ3's on our Fabia for track days, they took serious abuse and offered good grip in the dry and wet. Much better than the Dunplop's fitted from new.

I had ZZ3s on my 225 Audi TT and the grip was good but being quite a soft compound tyre they didn't last too long. About 10k iirc. Did the job though, car went where I pointed it!

I've got some Avon ZV3's kicking about in the shed. I put them on the back of the Rover if I'm competing in an event where I want he car to be a bit tail happy :D

I nabbed my father-in-laws Avons before he traded in. They were ok. Nothing special. Quieter than the Contis.

I had ZV5's. They were ok but the ride was a bit harsh. Had Falken 452, they were good. Just put Uniroyal Rainsport 2's on. They are very good. Quiet and cushioned ride. They get good reviews for wet grip but its not rained much for me to test them in the wet yet. They were cheaper than the Falken and Avons.

getting the uniroyals 2moro, €130 each. thanks for advice lads

Uniroyals on mine too, very impressed with their grip in the recent slippery weather, they also have decent protection against kerbs for the alloys.

One thing i will tell you about tyre sin Ireland is that the price can vary by a huge amount!!! Always best to ask for best price then go somewhere else and get them to beat it!! If your about the Dublin area then Alloywheels up in Blanchardstown will sort you :)
