De-rusting brake discs

Featured Replies

I've found myself a brargain pair of front brake discs to replace those on my Octavia while I save for a "propper" braking setup.

The seller says there is some surface rust (like you get when you wash the car or it rains).

What is the best way to clean these off? Or shall I just fit them and let the pads do the cleaning with some gentle breaking.

Just got to hope the discs turn up - there are some dodgy sellers out there ;)

Yup, i would say just pop em on and the pads will clean them up in no time

Yep - just take em for a drive.

Wire wool to get rid of most of it then slap 'em on

Who's this then? :D

I say just slap them on - I could scrape off a good amount with a firm thumbnail, but nothing can apply much more force than a brake caliper. ;)

PM received by the way. ;)
