Gates water pump kit for

Featured Replies

Just been and picked up my timing belt kit and water pump and found its come in a kit called a water pump kit, never heard of that before. Only £102 and it's gates so oem quality. Will fit that shortly and decat it at the same time :)

That sounds a good price, where did you find it? Also have you had look a the water pump, does it have a metal or plastic impeller?

Allwoods a place by me, that was on trade though. Plastic but it's gates also so should be fine. The old one was leaking and I didn't even know so it's a good job I did get a water pump, let this be a lesson to you all!

I can beat them, paid £75 for mine, could get cheaper from euro but wanted quality over price.

Not such a good deal then lol. But don't gates make the kit for vw anyway?

Is this the full kit mate, timing belt and water pump is that all you need?

Never replaced one on a diesel, my fabia is due for one in 12k and think if this is a cheap price is it likely to go up?

I too prefer quality over price.

Cheers

If you want quality my advice is get the gates kit. I'm sure they probably make the kits for vw anyway and are used by 99% of garages because they are a decent kit. The conti belt might be fine but I know from personal experience the gates kit is probably the best out there, never knew conti did timing belts tbh. Also I got belt, tensioner, idler pulley and water pump in that kit

My kit was "Dayco" I've just fitted it about half an hour ago! took me about 3 hours but was in no rush.

I got the full timing belt kit (belt, tensioner and pully) for £40.40 and the water pump for £28.00 so was cheaper than I originally thought! £75 was including a thermostat :)

If I wanted piece of mind, the belt I had removed after over 40k miles (wasn't due but I wanted it changed) was also a Dayco one, top notch!

I got gates on mine and I'm sure the impeller was metal

My Dayco one was metal also. Factory vw ones are plastic though.
