Version 12.12.0

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just downloaded this latest version, anybody had a play with it yet and are there any differences in features etc?

I noticed there are now over 17500 codes now loaded.

There will be differences yes, but mainly to include newer vehicles.

Downloaded the update to 12.12.0 earlier. Not had a chance to use it yet, but with previous updates it works much the same on the older cars. As Gizmo says, it'll mainly have added functionality to use on new cars......I believe 12.12.0 adds compatibility with most MQB platform cars.....MkIII Octavia/Mk7 Golf etc.

Is it a proper new release or in beta? Seems to a big jump from 11.6 to 12.12 in terms of version number

It's the beta version, but bearthebruce said it was good enough for daily use.

I thought it was a full release......previous version was 11.11 from memory.

Sorry yes it was 11.11.6

Thanks for the replies guys, it's the first I've got so just wondered what to expect.

I've been using this beta version. Not sure if its my new 2013 yeti or the beta version but it can't access some of the controllers. Thus I can't activate the needle staging as others have done on their 2013 models.

Does it give you a message about sending information to Ross Tech or does it do nothing?  Do all the controllers show up in the CAN gateway list?

Speak to Ross Tech they are very helpful.

The new Release does indeed do a lot for the new MQB models but also fixes quite a few issues with earlier ones. In addition we've worked on the control module documentation quite extensively so you may even see changes for models in the 90s or early 2000s. The actual Changelog/Revision List for Release 12.12 can be found here:

@Fergster, if you are experiencing issues - don't hesitate to contact us. The worst that can happen is us missing something or you being stuck due to changes which may have happened to your new car compared to earlier models. As far as reaching control modules gues, the best way to get an idea what is actually installed would be running an Auto-Scan and/or looking at the gateway installation list.

Yes everything shows up on the gateway list though for the likes of staging when I go into adaption it says the controller can be accessed the text in the box blinks or flashes.

Is having this tool really worth the money spent? I've always been tempted to but I just don't know if I could justify the money to SWMBO.

In one word, yes! As loads of us keep saying it will pay for itself pretty quickly as dealer diagnostic fees are £60 per hour on average and this also means using VCDS to change features on your car like adding new ones or disabling the annoying ones, not just fault code reading.

You basically have a dealer spec tool that you can use whenever, wherever (if it's on laptop obviously), just think of how many £60's you would cost yourself if you wanted things changed, calibrated etc . With VCDS you can do it yourself and more, I'm no expert on it as I have loads more to explore yet :-)

Is sending a scan all you need?

@Fergster, as said before - please contact us.

@gadgetman, generally it is to give us a better idea if the documentation is working as it's supposed to - rarely we might get back to you for more information.

Thanks Theresias I have just got an email back from your support guys. They say that some instrument clusters simply won't accept the coding for staging which must be the problem. Though I can modify other parts of the instruments channel.
