Windscreen Spec?

Featured Replies

G'day All

Advice wanted to get the correct windscreen from the suppliers first time.

Are there differences between models, ie estate, model type, engine type, and differences with the rain sensor & sun band?

Octavia estate 2005 1.9tdi 105 elegance.

Anyone know what glass company Hastings Direct use?

Cheers

there will be two options for your car. Rain sensing wipers or not.

What colour is your sunstrip? Make sure you quote the colour and get the right one.

I had auto windscreens **** mine up and give me a grey rather than blue one. Also check to see if they break your parking ticket holder, they like to do that

I have had windscreens changed on different vehicles and the companies always use their own brand windscreens initially. I have found on every occassion that there is a wide band of distortion round the windscreen, sometimes just on one edge or two edges.

In every case they had to refit another, and another and eventually they would get an oem one from the vehicle manufacturer and that was fine.

Just make sure there is no distortion anywhere on the screen.

I had my front windscreen replaced by Autoglass via Aviva insurance - Audi/VW Branded glass - however it took them 3 attempts to get the right glass.

The position of the front mirror changed from Pre-FL to FL (it is positioned slightly lower on the FL) which means the wires for the rain sensors didn't reach!

Turned out they had mis-labelled their stock, hence why I was getting the wrong glass each time.

My rear windscreen was replaced earlier this year, again by Autoglass via Swiftcover. That was a complete nightmare as it had the integrated diversity aerial. Not a single piece of glass in the UK and they had to ship me some over from the Czech Republic. Was driving around with plastic sheeting over the rear of the car for nearly a month!

But anyway, that too was Audi/VW marked.
