Hunters 4 wheel alignment.

Featured Replies

I've done the searching and the hunters is the one to go for. So using good old google I've found align my car which supplies details of companies that use the hunters system.

Closest to me is Iverson Tyres in Chiswick, anyone used them? Or could you recommend another garage?

Any input would be great.

Mike

Most Formula One autocentres have Hunter rigs too and trained operators to use it. Maybe there is a branch near you.

http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/ not too far from you and generally held in high regard and I was pleased with the job they did for me.

When I had a couple of new tyres fitted earlier in the year I went to F1 Autocentre and had the full alignment done at the same time.

Chap let me come over and watch it all in operation - certainly seemed to know what they were doing.

They do tend to charge on a "per adjustment" which can get expensive if you require many. Mine only needed 2, so they were included in the testing price.

Cheers chaps, wheels in motion are charging £114 for the service.

Cheapest I've found is £70 with amd in essex but I'd have to factor in travelling costs.

I'll give the formula 1 a call for a price

Make sure your steering wheel is straight after it. Sometimes they can do perfect alignment without checking the wheel.

Earlier today had my vRS MkII FL alignment checked after hitting a rock and needing a new tyre.  Carried out by Miles Tyres near Thornbury in Gloucestershire.  Steering wheel now straight again.  Cost was £24.90 for front and £16.50 for rear; so with VAT a total of £49.68 .

I can recommend Miles.  Explained to me exactly what was wrong with the set-up and what they were changing.

Depends on their charging structure too. Some will give an 'all-in' price, some will charge for the basic check, then individual charging from there, dependant on what needs changing.

But if the above is a proper 4-wheel alignment with corrections to the rear setup where necessary, for £50 - that's a bit of a bargain. I would budget £70-120 generally, again depending on what needs doing and how much time needs spent.

If you hit a rock, and needed a new tyre and the wheel alignment was out afterwards I would be looking at replacing the steering part that was bent in the incident rather than fixing the symptoms. Track rods and other components don't mysteriously loosen a couple of thread turns on impact, they tend to bend and be weakened as a result.

Wardy, I had my alignment done the other week at Buckley Tyres http://www.buckleytyre.co.uk/Alignment-Bay.asp, charge was £30 for check and £20 if any adjustment on the rear is needed. I needed the rear toe and a little at the front doing so cost £50 after I had a RARB and ALK fitted (not by them). £20 seemed a bit steep for adjustments (5-10 mins) but I guess not all cars are the same!

Nearside front and rear suspension has been fully checked over and no damage found.  Slight adjustments were needed to correct out-of-alignment of toe value of rear nearside wheel.

Wheels in Motion only charge per adjustment. My first alignment a year ago was about £75 and the one last month was £49.

^^^^  Have to say that Wheels in Motion are by far the best Ive ever experienced. Ive never met anyone as knowledgeable and enthusiastic as Tony and the car always feels so much better afterwards.  They get my vote. :)

Always heard glowing reports from WiM too. If I was nearer that's where I'd go :)

High prices there lads.
€30 here near me to get 4 wheels allignment done on a Hunter system.

Incredibly cheap!

Place I use depends on what's adjusted. Cost me around £30-£40. But for a car that allows more adjustment is much more.

Where do you use John?
