New Citigo Sport

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've picked up my new Citigo Sport (Red) today but a few things don't add-up..

  • Paint seems to have oily marks all over it that don't seem to want to come off with a wet cloth plus a dent and bubble on the passenger side by the bonnet
  • Loads of black sticky marks on the roof
  • Scratch on the back window
  • PID was branded Navigon, but I thought newer models were Garmin. Also should they come with a case??
  • Few scratches here and there on the interior and even the key is scuffed
  • And... it doesn't have the new car smell!!!

I thought I was getting a factory build, but it seems to have come from another dealer (SG Smith) and my gut feeling is it was sat in their showroom for a few months. It only had 56 on the clock as it was driven from Croydon to Kent so it wasn't used as a demo.

On the plus, does drive really well :-)

Any ideas anyone please...

Thanks

Andrew

Was it a pre reg?

Sounds very much like its been a show car to me

Sorry to hear that Andrew. Which dealer did you get it from and was it sold as brand new?

That's bad. I would take it back and have all those things rectified.

That is very sad, possibly taken an edge off new car ownership for the moment.  Did you check the car over before you signed and agreed the paperwork, if not happy with it then may have been safer to not sign.  Remedial work always more difficult to get done.   Hope you get it sorted quickly and soon.

How long did you wait for the car?,I ordered mine 8 weeks and am still waiting.Does the car a long aerial or a short aerial, does the dashboard have a plastic clip on the passenger side next to the radio?.If your car has a longish aerial and is missing the clip then I would say your car is several months old and has been sitting in a showroom/compound prior to delivery to you.Either way ask the dealer for the build date of your car.

Personally I'd reject. Or make sure the dealer fixes.

On personal experience on damage to a new car, don't drive away until its in writing they will repair the issues.

On my peugeot 206 the pdi driver opened the door onto another car (saw him doing it) and scuffed the paint off, salesman said don't worry I'll get that sorted. (That was one of many issues which peugeot wouldn't let me reject the car). Needless to say it never got done.

Always take your time and look all over, you may look like a nutter but it will save hassle latter.

Hi,

Thanks for all your replies. It does have a long aerial and I don't remember seeing a clip (it's now in my garage for the night). I signed all the paperwork at his desk as he said we'd look around it in a bit, but then his next sale turned up so he quickly showed me the controls such as lights etc.. then shook my hand, shut the door and he was offski. I drove it couple of mins down the road to check it over properly as it was parked blocking part of their forecourt and rang them back to say there's stuff wrong. They said they'd sort it so hopefully it'll be OK. It was ordered on the 17th Aug and he said mid-Sept so I assumed it was a new build as I can't see it taking 4-weeks to get a stock car from the network.

Thanks

Forgot to say... No it wasn't a pre-reg. It was registered on the 18th Sept.

We've had stock fiestas before as they tend to be cheaper but they've always been immaculate (even with new car smell) and were sourced within about 1-week.

I ordered my car 8 weeks ago today and is now in transit (God knows where).

I'd be gutted if I didn't have new car smell. Seriously, its a big part of the experience for me, sad as it might sound to some.
