I have it on my VRS, haven't used it yet though.

It may not be an option you want to follow, but I bought a plug-in 150W inverter from Lidl for my Yeti -

http://www.lidl-service.com/cps/rde/SID-C8C76C59-09DE66A9/lsp/hs.xsl/product.html?id=43476846&rdeLocaleAttr=en&title=Power%20Inverter

It fits in the drinks holder, provides a USB socket and has an LED to indicate if the battery/supply is good enough for the socket to work. Not quite the convenience of a permanently fitted solution but it was only £14.99 - good enough for the occasional use I want it for (and cheaper than buying a separate laptop power supply).

On my options list to connect my home sound system in case the cars is sh*te.

Which is why I assume you can't get it?

Would it fall foul of the 17th edition regs? (or whatever number it's on now)

That doesn't cover automotive electrics

As already stated go buy an inverter from Halfrauds, ebay, amazon, wherever.

You can get a 300W one for less than £50.  Put it in the boot when not in use (which will be most of the time).  Significantly less money for a higher powered socket than the built in one.

And unless you live in the 1980's it's 230v.
