240V socket

Featured Replies

I've seen in a (non UK) accessory catalogue that there is a 240V socket option which replaces the rear 'storage compartment' (aka ashtray).

Does anyone know if a UK 3 pin version exists?

TIA!

On 11th July, my dealer said:

"The option for a 230V outlet, although shown in the approved accessories brochure is a Europe option (excluding the UK) typical from Skoda, they are not willing to put a 3 pin plug for the UK option in the car."

Edit:  He subsequently said "I have just had a chat with an automotive electrical company that we use for aftermarket 'modifications' to vehicles and they could fit another 12v power outlet or cigarette lighter socket (subject to inspection) to the rear passenger compartment for £70.00 Plus VAT."   but he is in Oxford and I am in Bristol, so I didn't pursue it (company car, so never went there).

Did you get the name of that company? This is of interest to me as I will miss having it on my recent cars.

Handy when hoovering the car ;)

I just had a quick look at a copy of the european brochure and then looked on etka.

The brochure shows the 230v socket as an accessory - 000 063 826 but etka doesn't seem to list it as an option. The brochure also showed a red leather gear knob for manual gearboxes - again not on etka.

Found heated seats for the rear bench though...

In any case if you really needed a 240v socket in the rear - it is do-able. Nothing is impossible.

Heated rear seats!!!?!?!?!

But of course :-) My kids are very much looking forward to that option which is included in our order (was sendt from the factory on Monday).

I wonder if that can be retro fitted to the vRS. :-)

I had a look on my Passat a while back but it's a reasonable job and I would imagine would be similar on the Octavia. You have to dismantle the centre console obviously, however, the real pain was it needs a new feed from the main engine fuse box and the associated hassle in the routing of.

Yeah etka lists the heated panels that you need to fit under the fabric and the switches that fit in the rear of the console.

I also found this in the MSP pages. It shows the product code 9Z3 as the 230v operating voltage.

P 9Z3   operating voltage:  12V A 230V

Maybe it does exist after all.

Just need to narrow it down in the illustrations which is proving difficult at the moment. As is the vRS mode switch.

Horton Skoda have retrofitted heated seats -not for me personally but it's definitely something that can be done. As for hard wiring a 230V inverter and fitting a 3 pin socket -I doubt it would be that hard.

If I remember correctly it can supply only up to 150W of power. Charging mobile phones or laptops or cameras will work fine but a vacuum cleaner might not work.  :wall:

Thats correct. Supplies up to 150W of power

Well been having a play on etka again actually looking for the Mythical vRS button and came across the part numbers for the 230v socket and inverter.

I would imagine some repair wires will be needed to complete the install. Good to see a 1J0 part number in there. Very MK4.

Just need prices now.

Anyway back to the Holy Grail - the mythical vRS button.

And as far as I know it only works with engine running...

Did you have any joy with this James? I'm really starting to believe there is no vRS button for RHD cars....

I will definitely fit this inverter to my car when it arrives.

The parts are £208.51 including VAT and normally take a few days to come through.

Regarding the vRS button, I'm still investigating this one.

I need a left hand drive pic and a right hand drive pic of the complete button section in the centre console as they are probably different shapes.

I also need a car data printout of every PR code for the LH drive car and same again for the RH drive car.

I may have to buy the LH drive row of buttons just to get one and see what can be done to it.

This vRS button topic is better discussed in the Mythical vRS button thread.

Has anyone in europe got the 230v socket in their car?

If so can you put a pic up?

No-one?

If anyone has details of company that can retrofit 12v cigarette lighter style output into rear console please post would be v interested

Same here. It's currently -22C so my two girls are really looking forward to that one. Unfortunately they'll have to wait until next winter. Spring is here when the car arravies. If not even summer... :/

Pic from brochure if that helps. Nobody I know has opted for it, not a necessity.

In case it's of interest: price for the socket is 90€ here, for the rear seat heating 150€ (factory options).

I'm assuming that because there isn't a UK version there's something preventing it being sold here?

Why go to the cost and hassle of hard fitting the inverter?

A 150W inverter can be bough for less than £20, this then just plugs into the cigarette lighter.

FWIW they can get quite hot, it’s certainly not something that I would want fitted to the car in a confined space,

Which is why I assume you can't get it?

Would it fall foul of the 17th edition regs? (or whatever number it's on now)
