Full engine rebuild quote what do u think?

On this basis we could remove, remanufacture and re-fit your existing engine and change your oils, filters and gaskets for only £1595.00 inclusive of vat and a warranty for life.

Why replace your engine when we can remanufacture it?

Have a remanufactured engine cheaper than a second hand one!

What does the remanufacture consist of?

1) Your engine shall first be stripped to bare component and put into a high pressure cylindrical parts washer at high temperature with cleansing chemicals- this removes all carbon deposits and debris from previous failures and takes the component back to a “bright” metal.

2) The Cylinder Block is then re-honed and or re-bored.

3) Pistons and or Rings are then changed

4) Connecting Rods are then re-honed.

5) The Crankshaft is then polished and or reground.

6) The main and big end bearing shells are then replaced to suit the size of the journal.

7) Your Oil Pump is then reconditioned.

8) The Cylinder Head is then stripped down and checked for wear, cracks and for trueness then pressure tested and refaced as necessary.

9) Valve guides are then checked for wear and replaced as necessary, valve seats are then cut.

10) New/re-faced valve are then lapped into the Cylinder-head and vacuum tested.

11) The Camshaft is then checked for wear and re-polished if required.

12) The engine is then reassembled with new gaskets and seals.

The benefits of contracting our company to undertake your remanufacture-

a Warranty available (subject to conditions)

a Remanufactured engine means zero mileage

What u think of this ? ? ? Much appreciated

Also anybody had any experience with unique engines ltd thanks

Sounds like a load of *******s IMO

Be wary,£1600 is not cheaper than a secondhand engine in any way!

And a warranty for life? Good luck when it comes to making a claim on that "warranty"!

And you will be making a claim on it

Use someone....more reputable!

As I thought just been lookin at reviews and they are con men has anyone got any ideas on where to go? my vrs now has 150k on it and is not nackered yet but got a feelin it won't be long before its gonna need a major engine rebuild it doesn't use any oil but the top end is a little bit rattley I love my vrs and don't want to part with it any ideas ? Help mutch appreciated

Change pick up pipe and keep well serviced then no mead to do anything else !!

yea the 20v engine can go on an on, 150k is nothing if looked after.

if not buy another engine, plently about and swap your ancillaries over, for an auq engine minus bit you will pay around 300-400ish

Changed the pickup pipe the other day cause of the oil pressure warning light random fitted new clutch and duel mas flywheel clutch fork bearing now it won't start sometimes when hot and when it does the epc light stays on with high tickover turn it off and start again no fault strange it does this totally random sometimes not for hundreds of miles but its still as quick as ever ?

All I want is a quick car with no problems I do a thousand miles a week I need reliability

whats the starter motor like? sometimes if they are duff they can struggle to turn a car over when hot.

You have the car scanned yet on vag.com?

its the first thing to do.

You'll know when it needs rebuilding mate...

Got a code reader? If not get it to someone who has!

Chances are its something simple like a sensor failure....

Somebody with a bigger brain than me will be able to tell you!

As for the rattle,is it a top end rattle?

  • Author

Starter motor is fine it flys over I' have scanned fault codes none found . When I replaced the clutch strainer etc the engine is very clean inside no sludge there was a bit of grit in the strainer nothing heavy and no scores on the bores turbo is fine pulls like a train only thing I could find wrong was badly split oil breather pipes that's it

  • Author

Yea top end not bad though mainly when cold when I try to scan for faults the reader is just lines or error maybe due to ecu reflash?

are you using vag.com/vcds or a generic code reader, as tbh you need to do a full scan on one of the two i list imo before you do anything else.

could be the crank/cam positioning sensor at a guess.

I got 1600 quid to spend on this car . Just normal fault code reader I live in Southampton at mo but travel to Leicester for couple days a week I need to get this car sorted gonna replace all pipes hoses then have the car set up on rollin rd thinking new manifold exhaust cat (Miltec?) after all faults are sorted . What would you people do in my position with the money I got ?

Before some days i drove an 20vt Octy have been driven for over 500.000km without any rebuilt!

You do 1000 miles a week in a mk 1 vRS?  :giggle:

Yea most weeks 800 to 1000 miles I get 38 40 to the gallon aglow speeds it s in traffic round town it's thirsty

  • Author

That will be changing soon as I finish collage course soon and won't be goin to Leicester much then so will be ok

Whilst you're in Leicester, speak to R-Tech.. they know the 1.8T engines inside out and offer some of the best tuning and mapping around.

  • Author

Ok thanks a lot ill get the faults sorted then contact them thank you

IMO if I was you it would get a full service and make sure the bushes are good on suspension then get a tweak stage 1 map for economy

That's it the amount of miles you do I think you would be mad to start doing anything else IMO
